Who’s new to the team?
The West Liberty baseball team is excited to announce their roster for the 2020 season. This year’s team features many new faces, as well as some familiar ones. Here’s a look at who’s new to the team this year:

Who are the team captains?
The team captains for the 2020 season are Josh Alexander and Ryan Sidorowicz.
The team’s strengths and weaknesses
The West Liberty Baseball Team has a strong pitching roster this year. The team’s Ace is Senior Nolan Meadows, who has been with the team for all 4 years of his eligibility. Meadows is joined by junior Nick Gruss, who is also a 4-year player. Rounding out the starting rotation is sophomore Jake Sherman, who is in his first year with the team.
The team’s hitting however, has been a weakness so far this season. The team is batting just .237 as a whole, which ranks them near the bottom of Division III in terms of offensive production. The team does have some power potential, as evidenced by their 15 home runs (tied for 8th in DIII), but they have yet to consistently string together hits and score runs
The team’s schedule for the 2020 season
The West Liberty baseball team has released its schedule for the 2020 season. The team will play a total of 30 games, 15 of which will be at home.
The season will begin on February 15th with a three-game series against Johnson & Wales University. The team’s first Home game will be on February 22nd against Davis & Elkins College
West Liberty’s Conference Schedule will begin on March 14th with a three-game series against Fairmont State University The team will also play conference games against Notre Dame College, Shepherd University, West Virginia Wesleyan University and Alderson Broaddus University.
The season will conclude on May 9th with a three-game series against Glenville State College.
The team’s Key Players to watch out for
2020 will be an exciting year for West Liberty Baseball as the team looks to build on their success from last season. Here are some of the key players to watch out for:
Pitcher Josh Gibson is one of the team’s most experienced players, and he will be counted on to provide leadership on and off the mound. Infielder Tyler Perry is another veteran who will be looked to for his steady play at shortstop.
The team will also be relying on several newcomers to make an impact. Outfielder Luke Johnson is a highly-touted prospect who is expected to contribute right away. Additionally, pitcher Ryan Morris will be looking to make a splash in his first season with the team.
The team’s biggest rivals
The West Liberty Baseball team’s 2020 season was one for the ages. The team went undefeated in conference play and won the conference tournament They finished the season with a record of 34-5, the best in school history.
The team’s biggest rivals are the Liberty University Flames and the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Flames are ranked No. 1 in the country and the Hokies are ranked No. 2. The team’s first game of the season is against the Flames, and they will be sure to have their hands full.

The team has a lot of new talent this season and they’re looking good. The team’s chances of success in the 2020 season are looking very promising.

The West Liberty baseball team is set to begin their 2020 season on February 15th. Here are 10 things you may not know about the team:
1. The team is made up of 21 student-athletes, representing 5 states.
2. The team has 4 seniors, 8 juniors, 5 sophomores, and 4 freshmen.
3. The team’s mission is “to provide a quality baseball experience for our student-athletes that develop them holistically as people first, then players.”
4. Head Coach Caleb Gray is entering his second season at the helm of the program.
5. The team’s home field is sparkman park, which underwent renovations in 2019.
6. The 2020 schedule features 36 games, with 27 of those being conference contests.
7. The team’s conference affiliation is with the Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC).
8. In 2019, the team had an overall record of 18-18 and a conference record of 14-10 (good for 3rd place in the MAC).
9. The team’s leading hitter from 2019, senior Nate King, returns for his final season in 2020. King hit .394 last season with 7 home runs and 36 RBIs.
10. West Liberty will look to build on their 2019 success in 2020 and contend for a MAC championship!
