Oscar Robertson is the only player in NBA history to average a triple double for an entire season. In 1961, his first year in the league, he averaged 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 11.4 assists per game He was also named the MVP that year.
Wilt Chamberlain- 1968 MVP
In the 1968 NBA season Wilt Chamberlain became the first and only player in NBA history to average a triple double. He averaged 22.9 points per game 24.0 rebounds per game and 11.4 assists per game Chamberlain was also named the 1968 NBA MVP
Magic Johnson- 1980 MVP
As the 1980 MVP, Johnson was the first rookie to average a triple double in the NBA. He led the Lakers to the NBA Finals that year, where they lost to the Boston Celtics Johnson would go on to win five NBA championships with the Lakers, and is widely considered one of the greatest players in NBA history

Larry Bird was born on December 7, 1956, in West Baden Springs, Indiana. He was the fourth child of Georgia and Claude Joseph “Joe” Bird. Growing up, Larry excelled in all sports but had a special love for basketball. He played on his High School team and led them to the State Championships his senior year. After graduation, he attended Indiana State University on a Basketball Scholarship
In his three years playing for Indiana State Larry averaged 30.3 points per game 13.3 rebounds per game and 4.6 assists per game. He was named the College Player of the Year in 1979 and led his team to the NCAA championship game against Michigan State University In that game, he had a triple double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. Larry’s amazing performance helped make him a household name and launched him into a successful professional career.
Larry Bird was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 1979 NBA draft He played for the Celtics his entire professional career and is considered one of the greatest players in NBA history He was a three-time MVP and a nine-time All-Star. He won two NBA Championships with the Celtics (1981 and 1984) and was named Finals MVP both times. In 1984, he averaged 27.4 points per game 10 rebounds per game, and 6.6 assists per game en route to winning MVP honors for the season. That year he also became just the second player in NBA history to average a triple double for an entire season ( Oscar Robertson was the first).
Larry Bird is one of only three players in NBA history to win MVP three times ( Magic Johnson and Bill Russell arethe other two). He is also one of only five players in NBA history to win Finals MVP three times ( Magic Johnson , Shaquille O’Neal , Michael Jordan ,and Lebron James arethe other four).

In the history of the NBA, there have only been two players to ever average a triple double for an entire season. The first player to do it was Oscar Robertson in the 1961-1962 season. The second player, and more recent, is Michael Jordan who did it in the 1988-1989 season. In that season, he averaged 32.5 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists per game. He was also that year’s MVP.

He joins an elite group of players including Oscar Robertson Russell Westbrook Wilt Chamberlain and Larry Bird Harden is also the first player in NBA history to have at least 2,000 points, 900 assists, and 600 rebounds in a single season. His impressive stats earned him the MVP Award for the 2017-2018 season.
Kobe Bryant- 2008 MVP
Kobe Bryant was the first player in NBA history to average a triple double over the course of an entire season. He accomplished this feat during the 2007-2008 season, when he averaged 25.2 points, 5.4 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game.
