Youngstown State Baseball Schedule

The Youngstown State baseball schedule is out and the Penguins will open their season on the road against West Virginia on February 14th.

2019 Youngstown State baseball Schedule

Jan. 25-27: vs. Fort Wayne
Feb. 1-3: at Xavier
Feb. 8-10: vs. Robert Morris
Feb. 15-17: at Cincinnati
Feb. 22-24: at Stetson

2019 Opponents

The Penguins will take on several Division I opponents in 2019, including West Virginia Pittsburgh, Kent State and Cincinnati. The full schedule is below.

February 15: at West Virginia
February 16: vs. Marist
February 17: at West Virginia
February 22-24: Liberty Tournament (Next weekend)
March 1-3: Houston College Classic (Three-game tournament)

Home Games

The Penguins will play their home games at Eastwood Field, located on the campus of Youngstown State University The facility opened in 2002 and has a capacity of 3,500.

Away Games

The Penguins will play 23 away games this season, with their first game on the road against Kent State on March 1. Other notable away games include a three-game series against West Virginia from April 5-7 and a four-game series against Cincinnati from May 17-20.

Conference Games

The Youngstown State baseball team will open Horizon League play on the road at Wright State on Friday, March 23. The three-game series will begin at 6:30 p.m. and continue on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Non-Conference Games

The Youngstown State Baseball Team will play 29 non-conference games in 2020 as the schedule was released on Wednesday. The Penguins will have 13 home games and 16 road games in their first season under Head Coach Dan Bertolini.

Postseason Games

The Youngstown State baseball team will open the 2019 postseason on Tuesday, May 21, as the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Oxford Regional.

The Penguins (34-22) will take on No. 1 seed Memphis (41-16) at 2 p.m. EDT at Swayze Field on the Ole Miss campus in Oxford, Miss. The other first-round game in the double-elimination regional has No. 2 seed Mississippi State (37-25) taking on No. 3 seed Southeast Missouri State (38-20) at 6:30 p.m. EDT.

YSU is looking to make its fourth NCAA regional appearance in the last five seasons and second consecutive trip to the postseason after missing out in 2017. The Guins are also looking for their first win in an NCAA Regional game since defeating Kansas State 8-7, in 12 innings on May 31, 2014, in Manhattan, Kan.

The Pengins will play a total of 56 games this season, 28 of which will be at home in Youngstown, Ohio. The away games will be played at various locations throughout the United States

How to Follow the Games

The Youngstown State University (YSU) baseball team will be playing a total of 56 games in the 2020 season. 34 of those contests will be played at home in Eastwood Field, while the other 22 away games will take place at other college campuses and minor league stadiums across the country.

If you can’t make it to any of the live games you can still catch all of the action through various live stream and radio options. For every game, there will be a live stream available on ESPN+, and select home games will also be featured on WFMJ 21. In addition, all 56 YSU baseball games will also be broadcasted on 570 WKBN.
