The Kent State men’s basketball team is ready to take the court for the 2019-20 season head coach Rob Senderoff enters his 10th season at the helm of the Golden Flashes and he will have a deep and experienced roster at his disposal.

Here is a look at each member of the team:

#1 Jaylin Walker – Senior guard from Detroit, Michigan. Walker is Kent State’s leading returning scorer after averaging 17.1 points per game last season. He is also a two-time All-Mid-American Conference selection and was named to the MAC All-Tournament team in 2018.

#2 Jalen Avery – Sophomore guard from Westerville, Ohio. Avery averaged 8.9 points and 2.8 assists per game as a freshman and was named MAC Freshman of the Year. He will be counted on to be one of Kent State’s primary ball-handlers this season.

#3 Danny Pippen – Senior forward from Chicago, Illinois. Pippen transferred to Kent State from New Mexico junior college prior to last season and made an immediate impact, averaging 12.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 60 percent from the field. He was named MAC sixth man of the Year in 2019.

#4 Kevin Zabo – Senior guard from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Zabo averaged 10.4 points, 4.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game last season while shooting 41 percent from three-point range He is a two-time All-MAC Defensive Team selection and was named MAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2018.

#5 Antonio Williams – Junior guard from Charlotte, North Carolina Williams redshirted last season after transferring to Kent State from North Carolina State where he started 21 games as a freshman in 2017-18 and averaged 5.8 points per game He will add experience and depth to the Golden Flashes’ backcourt rotation this season.

Manny Pollard – Senior, Guard
Manny is a senior guard for the Golden Flashes and is originally from Euclid, Ohio. He is a graduate of St. Edward High School where he was a four-year starter. Manny is known for his shooting ability and was named First Team All-Ohio as a junior. He is currently averaging 11 Points per game for Kent State

Jaylin Walker – Junior, Guard
Jaylin is a junior guard from Detroit, Michigan. He attended Consortium College prep school before coming to Kent State Jaylin was named Detroit News Player of the Year as a senior in high school He is currently averaging 12 points per game for the Golden Flashes.

Danny Pippen – Sophomore, Forward
Danny is a sophomore forward from Chicago, Illinois. He attended Simeon Career Academy where he was named Mr. Basketball of Illinois as a senior. Danny was also named First Team All-State by the Associated Press as a senior. He is currently averaging 9 points per game and 5 rebounds per game for Kent State

Nzei is a 6-foot-7-inch forward from Newark, New Jersey. He played his freshman season of college basketball at Seton Hall before transferring to Kent State prior to his sophomore year. In his one season with the Golden Flashes, he averaged 5.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Pippen is a 6-foot-8-inch forward from Chicago, Illinois. He played his freshman season of college basketball at Bradley before transferring to Kent State prior to his sophomore year. In his one season with the Golden Flashes, he averaged 9.1 points and 5 rebounds per game. He has one year of eligibility remaining with Kent State

#4 – Troy Simons
Simons is a 6-foot-2-inch guard from Canton, Ohio. He played his freshman season of College Basketball at Cincinnati before transferring to Kent State prior to his sophomore year. In his one season with the Golden Flashes, he averaged 11 points and 3 assists per game en route to being named Second Team All-Mid American Conference (MAC). Simons has one year of eligibility remaining with Kent State.”

The Kent State men’s Basketball Team is looking to build on a successful 2018-19 campaign that saw the Golden Flashes win 23 games and advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament Head Coach Rob Senderoff enters his 11th season at the helm of the program, and he will have a deep and experienced roster at his disposal as the team looks to make another run at an NCAA berth.

Here is a closer look at the 14 players who will suit up for Kent State this season:

#1 Moses Wright Forward, 6’7″, 225 lbs., Senior
Wright enters his senior season as one of the Top Players in the Mid-American Conference. He was named First Team All-MAC last season after averaging 16.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Wright has improved his scoring average each year he has been at Kent State, and he will be looked upon to be the team’s go-to scorer again this season.

#2 Danny Pippen, Forward, 6’8″, 220 lbs., Sophomore
Pippen had a breakout sophomore campaign in 2018-19, averaging 13.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field. He was named Third Team All-MAC last season and will team with Wright to form one of the best frontcourts in the conference this season. Pippen has also shown an improved ability to stretch the floor with his Three-point shooting making 33 triples last season after attempting just seven as a freshman.

#3 Antonio Williams, Guard, 6’2″, 185 lbs., Senior
Williams is Kent State’s returning leader in assists (5.0 per game) and steals (1.6 per game) from last season. He also averaged 10.1 points per game while starting all 35 games for the Golden Flashes en route to being named honorable mention All-MAC. Williams is an outstanding perimeter defender that can also score when needed, and he will once again be counted on to run Kent State’s offense this season.

#4 Chris Dotson, Guard, 6’3″, 190 lbs., Junior
Dotson returns for his junior season after averaging 11.6 points and 2.9 assists per game last year while shooting 39 percent from three-point range. He was named honorable mention All-MAC last season after starting all 35 games for Kent State. Dotson is an excellent shooter that can also get to the basket off the bounce, and he will once again be one ofKent State’s top scoring threats this season
