Avery Holleman G 5-10 165 Fr.
threes in 2012-13 (fourth all-time in school history). Among other awards, he was a first team all-region and all-state selection by the Georgia Sportswriters Association as a senior, when he averaged 19.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

Codys Caleb Cabbage F/C 6-9 240 So. from Loganville, Ga., where he averaged 10 points and nine rebounds per game as a senior for Grayson High School in 2011-12 en route to being named first team all-area by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and second team all-state by the Georgia Sportswriters Association. He was also honorable mention all-area as a junior after averaging eight points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 60 percent from the field.

Results

The 2013 FGCU Basketball season was the 21st season of the program, and the 3rd as a Division I member. The Eagles, led by Head Coach Joe Dooley, played their home games at Alico Arena on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers Florida as members of the Atlantic Sun Conference They finished the season 15–17, 7–9 in A-Sun play to finish in fifth place. Due to San Francisco winning the West Division, they failed to qualify for the A-Sun Tournament.

In order to become a true diehard fan of the FGCU basketball team it is essential to learn about the team’s history. The 2013 season was a crucial turning point in the program’s young history. That year, the Eagles made their first ever NCAA tournament appearance and won their first game in dramatic fashion. The team would go on to make the Sweet Sixteen before losing to eventual national runner-up Michigan.

The team was led by star seniors Sherwood Brown and Chase Fieler. Brown was named Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year and Fieler was a first team all-conference selection. Joe Dooley, in his second year as head coach guided the team to a school record 26 wins.

Other Key Players on the roster included: junior Bernard Thompson, who was second on the team in scoring; sophomore Brett Comer, who led the nation in assists; and junior Jamil Wilson, who provided a spark off the bench.

The 2013 season was an unforgettable one for FGCU fans and it cemented this Ung Basketball program as one to watch in years to come.

The 2013 FGCU Basketball team represented Florida Gulf Coast University in the 2013 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season The Eagles, led by second year Head Coach Andy Enfield, played their home games at Alico Arena on the university’s Fort Myers Florida campus and were members of the Atlantic Sun Conference They finished the season 15–17, 8–8 in A-Sun play to finish in fourth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the A-Sun Tournament to Lipscomb.
