It was led by head coach John Calipari who was in his fifth season. The Wildcats were a member of the Eastern Conference

The 2013 Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team represented the University of Kansas in the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men’s college basketball season, Jayhawks’ 115th basketball season The Jayhawks played their home games at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas and were members of the Big 12 Conference. They were led by 12th year Head Coach Bill Self and finished the season 25–10, 14–4 in Big 12 play to finish in a tie for second place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament to Iowa State They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they defeated Eastern Kentucky in the second round before losing in the third round to Stanford

The 2013–14 season marks a significant change for the program, as Nerlens Noel—widely considered one of the best players in the nation—was lost to a season-ending injury early in the year. Despite his absence, the Wildcats managed to remain one of the top teams in the country, finishing with a 21-10 record and reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament
