Kent State Basketball Releases Non-Conference Schedule

The Kent State men’s basketball team has released its non-conference schedule for the upcoming season The Golden Flashes will play 11 games against non-conference opponents, including four games against teams from the Power Five conferences.
The schedule is highlighted by a Home game against Big Ten foe Illinois on December 12. Kent State will also travel to face ACC opponent Pittsburgh on November 15 and Big East opponent St. John’s on December 21.
Other non-conference opponents include Buffalo, Bowling Green Robert Morris Youngstown State Norfolk State Stetson, Wright State and Cleveland State

Kent State will open the season at home against Robert Morris on Tuesday, November 5th. The Golden Flashes will then travel to take on Penn State on Friday, November 8th before returning home to host Bowling Green on Tuesday, November 12th. Additional non-conference matchups include home games against Stony Brook (11/16), Howard (11/19), and Cleveland State (11/27), as well as road contests at Youngstown State (12/3), Murray State (12/14), and Northeastern (12/17).
The Golden Flashes will also participate in the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off tournament from November 25th-27th, with games against UCF and either Kansas State or Bradley. Kent State’s game against UCF will be broadcast on ESPNU, while the following game will be televised on ESPN2 or ESPN News.

Kent State’s other home games in November include match-ups with Maryland Eastern Shore (November 12th), UMass Lowell (November 15th), and Pittsburgh (November 18th). The Flashes will conclude their non-conference schedule with a three-game road trip to face Chattanooga (December 16th), South Florida (December 19th), and Wright State (December 21st).

On the road, the Flashes will take on American on November 9th, Penn State on November 15th, Toledo on December 2nd, and Pittsburgh on December 8th.

The Flashes will open their season at home against Robert Morris on November 6th, before hitting the road for three straight games. They’ll take on Pitt in Pittsburgh on November 10th, then Iowa in Iowa City on the 13th. After returning home for a game against Youngstown State on the 17th, Kent State will travel to St. Bonaventure on the 20th.

The schedule features four home games and seven road contests. Kent State will open the season with a pair of exhibitions, hosting Calumet on Oct. 29 and Gannon on Nov. 5. The Golden Flashes will then begin the regular season on Nov. 10 at Ohio, before returning home for their home opener against Robert Morris on Nov. 13.

Kent State will also welcome fellow Mid-American Conference member Bowling Green to the M.A.C. Center on December 21.

Highlights of the non-conference slate include a home game against in-state rival Akron on December 21, a road trip to play Big Ten foe Iowa on December 7, and a meeting with defending Atlantic Sun champion Liberty on November 17 in the Cancun Challenge.
“We are excited about the non-conference schedule we have put together for this season,” said Head Coach Rob Senderoff. “We have a great mix of opponents, both at home and on the road, that will challenge our team and prepare us for the rigors ofMAC play.”
The Golden Flashes will open the season with three consecutive home games at Jim Christian Field House, beginning with a meeting with Stony Brook on November 5. Kent State will also host North Carolina A&T (November 9) and Hartwick (November 12) before heading to Cancun for the Cancun Challenge.
In addition to Liberty, Kent State will also face either Hofstra or UMass in Cancun. The Flashes will then return home to host Cleveland State (November 27), Youngstown State (December 1), Central Michigan (December 4), and Iowa (December 7) before taking a break for finals week.
