This year, the team is led by senior captains Joel Dentlinger and Ryan Rackers. The duo has been playing together since they were freshmen and have seen the team’s fortunes change over that time.
“We’ve definitely seen the program improve during our time here,” Dentlinger said. “When we were freshmen, we won just four games. Last year, we nearly made the state tournament We want to keep that momentum going this year and make it to state.”
Rackers echoed his sentiment, saying that he and his teammates are focused on taking things one game at a time. “We can’t get ahead of ourselves,” he said. “We just need to focus on getting better every day and see where that takes us.”
The team has already gotten off to a strong start this season, winning its first four games. With another long season ahead, Dentlinger and Rackers are confident that the team can continue its upward trend and make it to the state tournament for the first time in recent memory.
