The Marshall baseball roster for the 2019 season is here!
The Marshall baseball team has announced their roster for the 2019 season. The team will be composed of 28 players, including 17 seniors, 9 juniors, and 2 sophomores. Of the 28 players, 18 are pitchers, 3 are catchers, 6 are infielders, and 1 is an outfielder.
The team will be led by senior captain Billy Burns. Other notable seniors include All-American pitcher Kevin Gausman who was recently drafted by the Baltimore Orioles and infielder/outfielder Collin Cowgill, who was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2007.
The junior class is highlighted by pitcher Madison Bumgarner who was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2010; catcher/infielder/outfielder Buster Posey who was drafted by the Giants in 2008; and pitcher/infielder Tim Lincecum who was also drafted by the Giants in 2006.

5 players to watch on the 2019 Marshall Baseball team
The 2019 Marshall baseball season is right around the corner, and fans are eager to see how the team will stack up. Although the Thundering Herd lost some Key Players from last year’s squad, there are still plenty of talented athletes on the roster. Here are five players to keep an eye on this season:
1. Seniors Conor Smith and Austin Aker are two of the team’s most experienced players. They will be counted on to provide leadership and stability in the infield.
2. Junior pitcher Braden Zarbnisky is coming off a strong 2018 campaign in which he posted a 3.86 ERA. He will be looked to as the team’s ace this season.
3. Sophomore outfielder/pitcher Shane Hanon is a versatile player who will see time both on the mound and in the field. He is expected to be one of the team’s top offensive contributors.
4. Freshman pitcher Jackson Wolf is one of the most highly-touted recruits in recent memory. He has a chance to make an immediate impact for the Herd as a middle-of-the-rotation starter.

The Herd baseball team will open their 2019 season on the road against Xavier on February 15. The first Home game of the season will be against Morehead State on February 22.
The team is looking to build off of their momentum from last year when they went 27-30 overall and 17-13 in Conference USA play.

The Marshall Baseball team will host a conference foe this weekend in a three-game series This will be the first time the two teams have faced each other this season. The games are scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon.
