Brook Baseball is a Division I program on the rise. The Seawolves have seen a steady increase in wins over the past few years, and they are looking to make noise in the postseason in the near future.

Stonybrook is led by Head Coach Matt Senk, who has turned the program around since taking over in 2012. The Seawolves have won at least 30 games in each of the past four seasons, and they are coming off a 2017 campaign that saw them win a school-record 41 games.

Stonybrook is home to some of the best facilities in Division I Baseball Their ballpark, Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, is one of the finest in the Northeast and has hosted numerous conference tournaments and regional games.

The Seawolves have a strong roster that is filled with talent from top to bottom. They are led by senior second baseman Rob Zitufore, who was named First Team All-Conference last season. Zitufore is joined by fellow seniors Johnny Caputo and Jordan Eglite, who were both named Second Team All-Conference.

The History of Stonybrook Baseball

Stonybrook University’s baseball program has come a long way since its humble beginnings in the 1960s. The team was originally a Division III program, but after years of success, they made the jump to Division I in 1999.

The Stonybrook baseball coaching Staff

The Stonybrook Baseball coaching staff is led by Head Coach Matt Senk. He is assisted by associate Head coach Frank Tavares, Assistant Coach Joe Carelli, volunteer assistant coach Mike Darlow, and graduate assistant coach Vinny Esposito. The Stonybrook baseball Coaching Staff has a combined total of over fifty years of experience coaching baseball at the collegiate level.

Stonybrook has experienced a lot of success under head coach Matt Senk. In his eleven years at the helm, the team has won five America East Conference championships and made six NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2016, the team made it to the Super Regional round of the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history.

The 2017 season was a historic one for Stonybrook baseball. The team won a school-record 47 games and made it to the College World Series for the first time ever. They ultimately finished the season ranked #8 in the nation by Baseball America

Stonybrook University is a NCAA Division I baseball program that competes in the America East Conference The Seawolves have been to the NCAA Tournament five times in their history, with their most recent appearance coming in 2016. The lineup is filled with power at the top with McGrath, Concannon, and Seniorthird baseman Vinny Ferraro. The team also has speed and defense in the outfield with Junior center fielder Billy Prescott and Sophomore right fielder Ryan McKenna.

The Stonybrook baseball alumni are very proud of the progress that the program has made in such a short period of time. It wasn’t long ago that Stonybrook was a Division III school with little to no baseball tradition. That all changed when they made the move to Division I in 2012.

Since then, the Seawolves have been on the rise, thanks in part to some very talented alumni. They have won back-to-back America East Conference championships and have made appearances in the NCAA Tournament in both 2016 and 2017.

Stonybrook is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in Division I Baseball and their alumni are a big part of that success.
