As of September 18th, the Tampa Bay Rays are in 1st place in the American League East with a record of 91-61.
American League Standings
It’s officially summertime, and that means it’s time to break out the sunscreen and head to the ballpark to catch a game! If you’re a fan of America’s pastime, you’re probably interested in how your team is faring so far this season. Here’s a quick update on the American League Standings as of June 21st.
In the AL East, the Boston Red Sox currently hold first place with a record of 50-28. The New York Yankees are in second place at 48-30, followed by the Tampa Bay Rays (45-34), Baltimore Orioles (32-48), and Toronto Blue Jays (30-50).
The AL Central is led by the Cleveland Indians who have a mark of 52-27. The Minnesota Twins are in second place at 45-34, followed by the Chicago White Sox (35-44), Detroit Tigers (31-47), and Kansas City Royals (27-51).
Out west, the Houston Astros hold a slim lead over the Oakland Athletics in the AL West standings. The Astros are currently 49-31, while the A’s are right behind them at 48-32. The Seattle Mariners are in third place at 42-37, followed by the Los Angeles Angels (40-39) and Texas Rangers (40-40).
National League Standings
As of June 1st, the National League Standings are as follows:
The Chicago Cubs are in first place with a record of 35-25.
The St. Louis Cardinals are in second place with a record of 34-26.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are in third place with a record of 32-28.
The Colorado Rockies are in fourth place with a record of 31-29.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are in fifth place with a record of 30-30.
American League East
In the American League East the Tampa Bay Rays are in first place with a record of 22-15. The Toronto Blue Jays are in second place with a record of 20-17. The Baltimore Orioles are in third place with a record of 19-18. The Boston Red Sox are in fourth place with a record of 18-19. The New York Yankees are in fifth place with a record of 17-20.
American League West
Heading into the final month of the season, the American League West is tight at the top with the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels both within two games of each other. The Astros have been on a tear lately, winning eight of their last ten games. The Angels, on the other hand, have lost six of their last ten. With only a month left to play, it’s anyone’s division to win.
National League East
As of June 10th, the National League East standings are as follows:
Washington Nationals – 41-26
Atlanta Braves – 39-29
New York Mets – 36-32
Philadelphia Phillies – 33-34
Miami Marlins – 28-39
National League West
The National League West is one of the most competitive divisions in baseball. The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are currently tied for first place, with the Colorado Rockies close behind. The Dodgers have been on a hot streak lately, winning eight of their last ten games. The Giants have also been playing well, winning seven of their last ten. The Rockies are in third place, but they are only two games out of first place. This division is going to be exciting to watch all season long!
American League Central
As of June 1st, the American League Central Division standings are as follows:
The Chicago White Sox are in first place with a record of 31 wins and 24 losses.
The Cleveland Indians are in second place with a record of 30 wins and 25 losses.
The Detroit Tigers are in third place with a record of 28 wins and 27 losses.
The Kansas City Royals are in fourth place with a record of 27 wins and 28 losses.
The Minnesota Twins are in fifth place with a record of 25 wins and 30 losses.
National League Central
The National League Central is a competitive division this season, with all teams above .500 as of late June. The Chicago Cubs have been in first place for most of the season, but the Milwaukee Brewers are right behind them and the St. Louis Cardinals are not far behind either. All three teams are within two games of each other and it looks like it will be a tight race to the finish.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are in fourth place but they are only four games out of first, so they could still make a run at the division title. The Cincinnati Reds are in fifth place but they are only five games out of first, so they could still make a run at the division title. The bottom two teams in the division, the Houston Astros and the Colorado Rockies are both below .500 and appear to be out of contention for the division title.
Interleague Play
As of June 11, 2012, the Baltimore Orioles are in first place in the American League East with a record of 37-24. The New York Yankees are in second place with a record of 35-25. The Tampa Bay Rays are in third place with a record of 32-28. The Boston Red Sox are in fourth place with a record of 30-29. The Toronto Blue Jays are in fifth place with a record of 28-31.
In the National League East, the Washington Nationals are in first place with a record of 33-27. The Atlanta Braves are in second place with a record of 32-27. The Miami Marlins are in third place with a record of 30-29. The New York Mets are in fourth place with a record of 27-32. The Philadelphia Phillies are in fifth place with a record of 26-33.
Wild Card Standings
As of September 23rd, the Wild Card Standings for the American League are as follows:
1. Tampa Bay Rays (93-61)
2. Cleveland Indians (92-62)
3. Oakland Athletics (91-63)
4. Chicago White Sox (89-65)
The top two teams in the Wild Card standings will advance to the Wild Card Game, which is set to take place on October 2nd.
