Highlights of the Season

The Henderson State University (HSU) Baseball Team is set to have an action-packed season this year, with many exciting games and events planned. Below are some of the highlights that fans can look forward to during the season.

-The team’s first game will be against Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) on February 1st.
-HSU will host a total of 30 home games this season, including three double-headers.
-Some notable opponents that the team will be playing against include the University of Arkansas-Monticello, Southern Arkansas University, and Harding University.
-On March 29th, HSU will be hosting a “youth baseball Clinic” for kids aged 7-12. This event will teach basic baseball skills and is a great opportunity for young fans to interact with the team.
After a successful 2018 season in which they finished with a record of 30-19, the Henderson State Reddies are looking to build on that momentum and have another great season in 2019. Be sure to follow the team’s schedule and catch them in action!

Key Games to Watch

In baseball, a lot can happen over the course of a season. A team that starts off hot can fizzle out in the dog days of summer, while a team that gets off to a slow start can find its groove and make a run at the playoffs.

With that in mind, here are some key games to watch on the Henderson State baseball schedule this season:

March 3 vs. Ouachita Baptist The Reddies open their season at home against conference rival Ouachita Baptist This will be a good early test to see where Henderson State stands against one of the other teams vying for the conference title

March 17-19 vs. Central Arkansas Central Arkansas is another conference foe, and this three-game series will give the Reddies a chance to make up some ground in the Conference Standings if they can come out on top.

April 14-16 vs. Harding: Harding is one of the top teams in NCAA Division II baseball, so this will be a good measuring stick for Henderson State. If the Reddies can hang with Harding, they’ll know they’re capable of competing with anyone in their division.

May 5-7 at Arkansas Tech Arkansas Tech is one of Henderson State’s biggest rivals, so this series always has extra meaning. The games are sure to be hotly contested, and it’s always fun to see who can come out on top in this annual battle.

The Roster

The Henderson State baseball team is made up of a wide variety of talented ballplayers, each with their own unique skills and style of play. With so many different players on the roster, it can be hard to keep track of who does what. pitcher Nate Bernaxten hails from Vancouver, Washington and is entering his junior year with the team. A left-handed pitcher, Bernaxten is known for his deceptive delivery and ability to get batters out with ease.

Redshirt sophomore pitcher Brandon White is a native of Lawrenceville, Georgia. White is a right-handed pitcher who specializes in getting ground balls and strikeouts. He’ll be looking to make a big impact on the team this season after redshirting last year.

Catcher Nick1960sg operations guyand third baseman Levi Shepherd are both juniors on the team and hail from Olathe, Kansas. Nick is known for his strong arm and ability to handle pitchers well, while Levi is an offensive threat at the plate with his bat speed and power hitting.

Outfielders Bryce Willett and Colin Kilgore round out the junior class on the roster. Willett, from San Diego California, is a speedy outfielder with a good arm who can track down fly balls with ease. Kilgore, hailing from Surprise, Arizona, is a power hitter who also has a strong arm in the outfield.

The Henderson State baseball team has high hopes for the upcoming season and with such a talented group of players, it’s sure to be a good one!

The Coaching Staff

The Henderson State Baseball Coaching Staff is entering its fourth season. Head Coach Neil Anderson is joined by assistant coaches Kyle Shuler and Brent Hedgecock. The staff has led the Reddies to a 97-61 (.613) record, two NCAA regional appearances and one Great American Conference regular season title in their first three years.

The ballpark

Henderson State University’s Reddies Baseball Team play their home games at Crape Campus Field, located on the West Memorial Stadium campus in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The stadium has a capacity of 1,000 people and is one of the finest collegiate baseball facilities in the state of Arkansas. The ballpark features a fully-functional press box, ample seating for fans, and a concession stand that sells a variety of food and drinks.

Getting to the games

For those of you who are able to make it to the games, here is a guide on how to get to Hayden Field. If you are coming from I-30, take the exit for Henderson and turn onto US-79 N. Continue for about 3 miles before taking a left turn onto AR-333 W/E Main St. Make a quick right turn onto Haynes St and then another quick right turn into the parking lot for Hayden Field.

Game day traditions

Henderson State University’s Reddies Baseball team has a rich history dating back to 1907. The team has seen its fair share of success over the years, winning 15 conference championships and making 11 NCAA Division II tournament appearances. But the Reddies are not just about winning on the field, they also have some unique game day traditions that make attending a Home game an unforgettable experience. Here are just a few of the things you can expect to see at a Reddies baseball game

-The first thing you’ll notice when you enter Kindrick Legion Field is the massive red steel sculpture in left field The sculpture, which is called “Touch ‘Em All Willie,” was created by local artist Colonel Joe Reeder and dedicated to longtime Reddies baseball coach and administrator Dr. William “Willie” Baronet.

-Before each home game, the Reddies’ bat boy runs around the perimeter of the field with the team’s flag. This tradition began in the early days of Henderson Baseball when the team didn’t have a mascot.

-During the seventh inning stretch, fans are treated to a performance of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” by members of Henderson’s marching band, The Sound of Silver.

-After every home victory, fans can enjoy a complimentary slice of pie from Tony’s Pizza, which has been serving up pies to Reddies fans for over 30 years.

What the future holds

The Henderson State University baseball team has released their schedule for the upcoming season The team will play a total of 56 games, 28 of which will be at home in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

The Reddies are coming off a 2017 campaign in which they went 33-23 and won the great American Conference regular season title. They will look to build on that success in 2018 with a talented group of returners and some key additions to the roster.

The team will open the season with a four-game home series against Rockhurst University from Missouri on February 2-4. They will then hit the road for four games at Mississippi Valley State from February 9-11 before returning home for another four-game series, this time against Central Oklahoma from February 16-18.

The Reddies will play their first conference games of the season on the road at Southern Arkansas from March 2-4 before returning home for a three-game set against Ouachita Baptist from March 9-11. They will then alternate home and away series against GAC opponents for the rest of the season, with their final series of the year coming at home against Southeastern Oklahoma State from May 4-6.

The Reddies have high hopes for the 2018 season and are looking to make a run at not only another GAC Regular Season title, but also a berth in the NCAA Division II tournament. With a talented roster and a favorable schedule, they have a good chance to do just that.
