The Kentucky High School Ball State Tournament Is Back in 2021
The Kentucky high school Athletic Association (KHSAA) announced today that the state Baseball Tournament will return in 2021 after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The tournament, which is open to all high school teams in the state, will be held from May 27-29 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington. This will be the first time the tournament has been held at Whitaker Bank Ballpark which is the home of the Lexington Legends minor League Baseball team.
A total of 16 teams will compete in the tournament, with eight teams each in two divisions (Class A and Class AA). The top four teams from each division will advance to the semifinals, with the winners of those games meeting in the Championship game on May 29.
This will be the first time since 2019 that Kentucky high school teams have been able to compete for a State baseball title. The 2020 tournament was canceled due to the pandemic, as was the 2021 regular season
