The Culture

Since the beginning, baseball has been considered America’s Pastime. It is a game that has been around for over 150 years and has been handed down from generation to generation. The Game of Baseball is unique and unlike any other sport. It is the only sport that is played the same way at all levels, from little league to the Major Leagues Baseball is also a game of tradition. The way the game is played has remained largely unchanged throughout its history.

One of the things that makes baseball so special is its unique culture. The culture of baseball is a rich tapestry of traditions, superstitions, and rituals that have developed over the years. This culture is what makes baseball so special and beloved by so many people.

The Mount Marty Lancers are a Division II college Baseball Team located in Yankton, South Dakota The Lancers are relatively new to Division II, having only been in the conference for four years. In that short time, the Lancers have quickly made a name for themselves as one of the best teams in Division II baseball

The Lancers have developed their own unique culture and tradition in their short time in Division II. One of the most notable traditions is “The Wig Game”. This tradition started during the 2017 season when the Lancers were struggling to find an identity and were looking for something to bring them together as a team. One day, outfielder Jordan Krogman had an idea: he would wear a wig during games to get his teammates pumped up and help them relax at the same time. The rest of the team loved the idea and soon “The Wig Game” was born.

The Wig Game has become one of the most anticipated games on Mount Marty’s schedule. It is a game where Mount Marty’s players let their hair down (literally) and have some fun while they compete at a high level. The Wig Game has helped create a fun and loose atmosphere on Mount Marty’s team that has helped them succeed on the field. In just four years, Mount Marty has gone from being an unknown team to being one of the best teams in Division II baseball; and they have done it all while wearing wigs!
