The North Division has been led by Minnesota State for most of the season. They have an overall record of 19-4 and a conference record of 15-3. They are followed closely by Augustana, who is 18-5 overall and 14-4 in conference play In the South Division, St. Cloud State has been the dominant team with an overall record of 17-6 and a conference record of 13-5. They are followed by Interstate 35 rival, University of Sioux Falls who is 13-5 in conference play and 16-8 overall.
Looking at the standings, it is clear that Minnesota State is the best team in the NSIC. They have been consistent all season long and have only lost 3 games in conference play. Augustana has also been very good this season, but they have not been quite as consistent as Minnesota State In the South Division, St. Cloud State has been slightly better than Sioux Falls this season. Both teams have had very good seasons, but St. Cloud State has had a few more big wins to their name.
It will be interesting to see how these teams perform in the NSIC Baseball Tournament which starts on May 16th. The top four teams from each division will qualify for the tournament with seeds one through four getting a bye to the semi-final round. Seed five will play seed twelve, seed six will play seed eleven, and so on in best-of-three series until there are eight remaining teams. From there, it is a single elimination tournament until one team is crowned champion. With so much parity in the conference this year, it should be an exciting tournament!
