2019 Hockey Bracket: The Rivalries
The 2019 hockey bracket is here! This year, there are some great rivalries that will be playing out on the ice. These are the top five rivalries to watch for in the 2019 hockey season
1. Chicago Blackhawks vs. Detroit Red Wings
This is one of the most iconic rivalries in all of hockey. The two teams have been divisional rivals for decades, and they always bring out the best in each other. This year, the two teams are both vying for a spot in the playoffs, so this rivalry game will be extra meaningful.
2. Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers
These two teams have been divisional rivals since 1967, and their rivalry is as strong as ever. The Flyers are currently ahead of the Penguins in the standings, so the Penguins will be looking to take them down a notch in this important rivalry game.
3. Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens
The Maple Leafs and Canadiens have been divisional rivals since 1903, making this one of the oldest rivalries in hockey. The two teams have very different styles of play, which makes for an exciting matchup whenever they meet on the ice. This year, both teams are contenders for the Stanley Cup so this rivalry game could have major implications come playoff time.
4. San Jose Sharks vs. Los Angeles Kings
The Sharks and Kings have been divisional rivals since 1998, and they always seem to bring out the best (and worst) in each other when they meet on the ice. This year, both teams are near the top of their respective divisions, so this game could have major playoff implications down the line.
