The Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball team is the intercollegiate men’s Basketball Program representing the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. They compete in the Pac-12 Conference of NCAA Division I and are currently coached by Sean Miller Arizona has a long and rich Basketball History The program came to national prominence under the tutelage of former Head Coach Lute Olson, who established the program as a powerhouse in college basketball From 1985 to 2009, the team reached the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament for 25 consecutive years, a streak that currently ranks second in NCAA history behind UCLA essentially making Arizona one of only two programs in NCAA Division I history to achieve 20+ consecutive appearances in the Tournament (UCLA did it for 27 consecutive years).
The current head coach is Sean Miller Although the team has been considered consists primarily of players from Arizona and other parts of the western United States it has also attracted players from all over the country and even internationally.

In 1992, an Assistant Coach named Lute Olson was hired from Iowa to replace legendary but controversial Head Coach Fred Snowden. Snowden had led the team to fourteen consecutive winning seasons and two Elite Eight appearances before he was forced to resign amid accusations of racism. In Olsonsufffd first season at Arizona he led a young unranked Wildcats squad to a 24-4 record and their first ever #1 ranking on February 3rd.
However their season came to an early end when they lost to Duke in the Sweet Sixteen 96-81. The following year Olson led Arizona to its first ever regular season conference title going 16-2 in Pac 10 play. The team earned a number 2 seed in the west region of the 1994 NCAA tournament where they would face off against 15th seeded Loyola Marymount who had upset New Mexico State in the first round

In 1998, Arizona was involved in a recruiting scandal that led to the firing of then-assistant coach Jim Woolf. Woolf was found to have offered cash inducements to two High School players to come to Arizona. As a result, the Wildcats were forced to vacate all their wins from the 1997-98 season and were also banned from postseason play for that year.
In 2007, then-Head coach Lute Olson abruptly retired just days before the start of the season. This came as a surprise to many, as Olson had just signed a contract extension the previous year. It was later revealed that Olson had been dealing with health issues and a divorce, which led to his decision to step down.
In 2009, current head Coach Sean Miller was accused of recruiting violations by former Arizona assistant coach Josh Pastner. Pastner alleged that Miller had offered cash inducements to recruits. However, an investigation by the NCAA found no evidence of wrongdoing by Miller or any other Arizona staff members.

The Wildcats also made their first NCAA tournament appearance under Sean Miller, losing to UNLV in the Round of 64. But it was a sign of things to come for Arizona basketball.
2017-18: The ufffdTrierufffd Season
After being banned from the postseason due to an ineligible player, Allonzo Trier led Arizona to a Pac-12 Regular Season title in 2017-18. The Wildcats went 27-7 overall and 15-3 in conference play finishing two games ahead of second place USC.
Trier was sensational for Arizona, averaging 19.6 points per game en route to First Team All-Pac 12 honors. Deandre Ayton was also named First Team All Pac 12 after averaging 20.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game as a freshman.
