Army Basketball The Roster
The Army West Point men’s basketball team is led by first year Head Coach Jimmy Allen. The Black Knights will look to return to the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
This year’s roster includes two seniors, three juniors, seven sophomores and four freshmen. The team will rely on its experienced upperclassmen as it looks to compete for a Patriot League championship.
Army returns its leading scorer from last season in junior guard Tommy Funk. Funk averaged 11.4 points per game and led the team with 134 assists. He will be joined in the backcourt by fellow junior Jacob Kessler and sophomore Lonnie Grayson. Grayson is coming off a strong freshman campaign in which he averaged 9.5 points per game
In the frontcourt, Army will be led by senior center Matt Wilson and junior forward Alex King. Wilson averaged 9.3 points and a team-high 6.9 rebounds per game last season, while King tallied 8.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest. Sophomore Luke Morrison rounds out the starting five for the Black Knights
Who’s Who on the Army basketball Roster?
The Army Black Knights men’s Basketball team represents the United States Military Academy in Division I college basketball They compete in the Patriot League and play their home games at Christl Arena in West Point New York.
The team last played in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament in 2010. As of 2019, they have an all-time record of 1,844-1,138.

Meet the Army Basketball Team
Since 1890, Army basketball has been a staple of West Point The team has seen its share of success over the years, winning multiple conference championships and making several NCAA tournament appearances.
This year’s team is led by head coach Jimmy Allen, who is in his fourth season at the helm. The team is composed of 12 players, all of whom are looking to make their mark on the program.
Here’s a closer look at each player on this year’s Army basketball team
Dylan Cummings: A 6’7″ forward from San Antonio Texas, Cummings is in his junior season with the Army. He averaged 5.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game last season and will be counted on to be a leader for this year’s team.
Captain Anthony Marino: The team captain and lone senior, Marino is a 6’8″ forward from Brooklyn, New York. He averaged 2.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game last season but will be looked to for increased production this year as one of the few experienced players on the roster.
Garrison Courtney: A 6’9″ center from Amarillo, Texas, Courtney is in his sophomore season with the Army. He saw limited action as a freshman but will be expected to see more time on the court this year as he continues to develop his game.
Luke Morrison: A 6’2″ guard from Aurora, Colorado, Morrison is in his sophomore season with the Army. He averaged 5.1 points per game last season and will look to build on that production as he becomes more comfortable with the college game.
Army Basketball: Player Profiles
Throughout the course of any college Basketball season there are always a few players who manage to stand out above the rest. This Army team is no different. Here’s a closer look at some of the Key Players on the roster:
Sophomore forward Matt Wilson is one of the team’s top scorers and rebounders. The 6-foot-7-inch Wilson has a knack for getting to the basket and finishing strong. He’s also a good free throw shooter, converting nearly 80 percent of his attempts from the Charity Stripe
Senior guard Josh Sharkey is the team’s leading playmaker. Averaging nearly seven assists per game Sharkey has shown an ability to create scoring opportunities for his teammates. He’s also a quality perimeter shooter, connecting on nearly 40 percent of his three-point attempts.
Junior center Zhangjing “Jon” Chen is a big presence in the middle for Army. Standing 7-feet tall, Chen is a solid shot blocker and rebounder. He’s also averaging nearly 10 points per game making him one of the team’s most efficient offensive players

The Army men’s basketball team is coached by Jimmy Allen and currently consists of14 players. Of those, only six are upperclassmen. assistant coaches Ray Oddo, Kevin Eschenfelder, Ryan Safir
Ray Oddo is in his first season as Army’s recruiting coordinator / inside linebackers coach. He came to West Point after serving as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Stetson University for the past three years.
Kevin Eschenfelder is in his first season as Army’s wide receivers coach. He joined the Coaching Staff after serving as an Assistant Coach at Valparaiso University for the past four years.
Ryan Safir is in his first season as Army’s outside linebackers and special teams coach. He served as a graduate assistant at Rutgers University last season.

The team’s top scorer is junior guard Jordan Fox, who is averaging 16.8 Points per game Other key players include senior forward Matt Wilson (14.4 ppg) and sophomore guard Lonnie Grayson (13.6 ppg). So far this season, Army has a record of 19-9 overall and 12-6 in conference play
