The Averett University baseball team is fresh off their trip to the USA South Athletic conference tournament The Cougars are looking to build on that success this season, and they’ll have plenty of opportunities to do so with one of the most packed schedules in recent memory.

This season, Averett is set to play 56 games, the most since Head Coach Kevin Aspinwall took over the program in 2014. That includes 27 home games a school record The Cougars will also play 24 conference games for the first time in Aspinwall’s tenure.

With so many games on the schedule, there will be plenty of chances for Averett to make noise in the Conference Standings The Cougars are coming off a season in which they went 20-24 overall and 12-12 in conference play good for fifth place in the USA South.

There are also several key non-conference games on the schedule that could help Averett’s case come tournament time. The Cougars open the season with a three-game series at Greensboro College on Feb. 1-2 before taking on Emory & Henry at home on Feb. 8-9. Other notable non-conference opponents include Guilford College (Feb. 22-23), Virginia Wesleyan (March 8-9), Ferrum College (March 15-16) and Christopher Newport (April 5).

What Averett baseball’s away games are

This season, Averett baseball has a packed schedule with many away games. According to the Athletic Department, the team will be playing “32 of its 38 regular season games on the road.”

Some of the schools that Averett will be playing against include: Liberty University Virginia Military Institute Lynchburg College, James Madison University, and Randolph-Macon College.

The team’s first Home game is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25th against Emory & Henry College.

Averett University’s Baseball Team will be playing a lot of games this season. Here’s a look at their schedule and how you can follow the team.
The Cougars will open their season on February 1st with a three-game series against Virginia Wesleyan The first game will be at home, and the rest of the series will be played in Norfolk, Virginia.

Averett will then have a break until February 8th, when they’ll travel to Myrtle Beach South Carolina for a four-game tournament. They’ll play Converse College on the 8th, then take on Mount Olive on the 9th and 10th. Their final game in Myrtle Beach will be against Francis Marion on the 11th.

After Myrtle Beach Averett will return home for a six-game homestand. They’ll take on Guilford College on the 14th and 15th, then North Carolina Wesleyan on the 16th and 17th. Pfeiffer University will come to town for a doubleheader on the 18th, and Averett will wrap up their homestand with a game against Emory & Henry on the 19th.

February will end with Averett playing four non-conference road games. They’ll take on Christopher Newport on the 21st, then Randolph College on the 22nd. Averett will then head to Ferrum College for a doubleheader on the 23rd before wrapping up their road trip with a game at Virginia State on the 25th.

The Cougars return home for conference play in March, beginning with a three-game series against Salem College from the 1st-3rd. After that, Averett will have another long road trip, this time playing seven games in nine days in North Carolina and Virginia. They’ll take on Greensboro College from March 5-7, then have single games at Ferrum (March 9), at Randolph (March 10), and versus Guilford (March 11). Elizabeth City State comes to town for a doubleheader from March 12-13 before Averett wraps up their road trip with single games at Greensboro (March 16) and Salem (March 17).

Averett returns home for Conference Carolinas play again from March 19-21 when they host Belmont Abbey before going back out on the road for single games at North Carolina Wesleyan (March 23) and Emory & Henry (March 26). The Cougars close out March with Conference Carolinas home games against Lees-McRae (March 27) and Barton (March 30).
