Selected in the second round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs Marlowe was immediately sent to their minor league affiliate, the South Bend Cubs. In his first professional season, Marlowe batted .270/.352/.387 with 3 home runs and 23 RBIs in 65 games.

The following season, Marlowe was promoted to the Double-A Tennessee Smokies In 122 games, he batted .291/.362/.444 with 10 Home Runs and 61 RBIs. He also played in 5 games for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs but he did not record a hit in 15 at-bats.

Marlowe began the 2017 season back with the Smokies, but he was soon promoted to the Triple-A Iowa Cubs. In 21 games with Iowa, he batted .368/.419/.526 with 2 home runs and 11 RBIs. He was then called up to the Major Leagues on May 17th and made his debut that day against the Pittsburgh Pirates

Marlowe was named a New York-Penn League All-Star and was promoted to the High-A Salem Red Sox in 2019. In 2019, Marlowe hit .271/.345/.460 with 18 home runs and 73 RBI for Salem. He was once again named a league All-Star and was promoted to the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs midway through the season.
