George Horton is in his 12th season as the Titans’ head baseball coach He has led the team to nine NCAA regional appearances, four Super Regionals and one College World Series appearance. Horton has been named Big West Conference Coach of the Year five times and was named National Coach of the Year in 2004 by ABCA/Baseball America
Cal State Fullerton’s head baseball coach His Journey to the Top
Dick Cooke was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in the northern suburbs. He played baseball and basketball in High School but his real passion was baseball. After high school Cooke attended the University of Notre Dame on a baseball scholarship. He played four years of college baseball and his team won the College World Series his senior year.
After graduation, Cooke was drafted by the Detroit Tigers He played minor League Baseball for a few years before returning to Notre Dame to get his MBA. From there, he went into coaching. He coached high school baseball for a few years before becoming an Assistant Coach at Cal State Fullerton In 1994, he was named Head Coach of the Titans.
Under Cooke’s leadership, the Titans have won two National Championships and made five trips to the College World Series He has been named Coach of the Year three times and is one of the most respected coaches in college baseball

Rick Horton is in his 10th season as the head baseball coach at Cal State Fullerton He has compiled a 455-292 (.610) record, leading the Titans to six NCAA Regional appearances, one Super Regional appearance and one College World Series appearance. Horton’s teams have also won four Big West conference championships (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007).
Under Horton’s guidance, the Titans have developed into one of the nation’s Premier Baseball programs. Horton’s coaching philosophy is simple: he wants his players to be tough mentally and physically. “I want our guys to play the game with a sense of urgency,” Horton said. “I want them to be aggressive and have fun.”
Horton also preaches the importance of playing with Heart and Soul “I tell our guys all the time that they need to play with passion and energy,” Horton said. “The Game of Baseball is a lot more fun when you’re Playing with those things.”

Cal State Fullerton’s head baseball coach Dave Horton, has a record of 1,271-1,035-6 (.550) in his 27 seasons at the school. Horton has led the Titans to 21 NCAA tournament appearances, including an NCAA-record 16 consecutive appearances from 1995 to 2010. Fullerton has won 11 conference championships under Horton, and he has been named conference coach of the year four times. In 1999, Horton was named National Coach of the Year by Baseball America after leading the Titans to a school-record 52 wins and their first College World Series appearance.

It’s been a tough few years for the Cal State Fullerton baseball program After back-to-back College World Series appearances in 2014 and 2015, the Titans have failed to make it out of regional play the past two seasons. In 2017, they were one win away from doing so, but lost in heartbreaking fashion to Long Beach State in 11 innings.
This year, Fullerton was once again one win away from making it to a Super Regional but this time they fell to Stanford. It was a tough loss for a Titan team that had high hopes of returning to Omaha.
