The College World Series Format

The College World Series (CWS) is an annual Baseball Tournament held to determine the NCAA Division I Collegiate Baseball champion. The eight participating teams are split into two, four-team brackets with each team playing the other three in their bracket. The winners of each bracket then play each other in a best-of-three series to determine the CWS champion. The losing teams from each bracket then play a consolation game, also known as the “if necessary” game, to determine which team will finish in third place overall.
