Dick Cooke was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in the northern suburbs. He played baseball and basketball in High School but his real passion was baseball. After high school Cooke attended the University of Notre Dame on a baseball scholarship. He played four years of college baseball and his team won the College World Series his senior year.

After graduation, Cooke was drafted by the Detroit Tigers He played minor League Baseball for a few years before returning to Notre Dame to get his MBA. From there, he went into coaching. He coached high school baseball for a few years before becoming an Assistant Coach at Cal State Fullerton In 1994, he was named Head Coach of the Titans.

Under Cooke’s leadership, the Titans have won two National Championships and made five trips to the College World Series He has been named Coach of the Year three times and is one of the most respected coaches in college baseball

Rick Horton is in his 10th season as the head baseball coach at Cal State Fullerton He has compiled a 455-292 (.610) record, leading the Titans to six NCAA Regional appearances, one Super Regional appearance and one College World Series appearance. Horton’s teams have also won four Big West conference championships (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007).

Under Horton’s guidance, the Titans have developed into one of the nation’s Premier Baseball programs. Horton’s coaching philosophy is simple: he wants his players to be tough mentally and physically. “I want our guys to play the game with a sense of urgency,” Horton said. “I want them to be aggressive and have fun.”

Horton also preaches the importance of playing with Heart and Soul “I tell our guys all the time that they need to play with passion and energy,” Horton said. “The Game of Baseball is a lot more fun when you’re Playing with those things.”

Fullerton has won 11 conference championships under Horton, and he has been named conference coach of the year four times. In 1999, Horton was named National Coach of the Year by Baseball America after leading the Titans to a school-record 52 wins and their first College World Series appearance.
