Early life and family

Collier was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of John and Mary Collier. He has four brothers: John, Joseph, Benjamin, and William. His father died when he was young, and his mother remarried when he was a teenager. Cam began playing baseball at a young age, and continued to play throughout High School He graduated from high school in 2010.

After high school Collier attended the University of Maryland where he played baseball for the Terrapins. He graduated from Maryland in 2014 with a degree in kinesiology.

High school baseball

Collier played high school baseball at George Ranch High School in Richmond, Texas. As a senior in 2012, he had a batting average of .486 with four home runs 42 RBIs and 23 stolen bases

College baseball

Collier played college baseball at Auburn University from 2009 to 2012. During his time at Auburn, Collier was a member of the team that won the College World Series in 2010. He was also named to the All-SEC first team in 2010 and 2012.

Professional baseball

Collier played Minor League Baseball for the Seattle Mariners organization from 1997 until he was released in 2000.

Minor league baseball

Collier was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 11th round of the 2003 MLB Draft out of Temple high school in Texas. He played for three years in the Marlins’ organization before being traded to the Chicago Cubs in 2006. He played one season with the Cubs’ Single-A affiliate, the Daytona Cubs, before being traded back to the Marlins in 2007. After playing one season with the Marlins’ Double-A affiliate, he was released.
