Game Locations

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers men’s Basketball team is representing Coastal Carolina University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men’s Basketball season The Chanticleers, led by third-year Head Coach Cliff Ellis, play their home games at HTC Center in Conway, South Carolina as members of the Sun Belt Conference

Coastal Carolina finished the season 21–12, 12–6 in Sun Belt play to finish in fourth place. They defeated UT Arlington, Georgia State and Texas State to be champions of the Sun Belt Tournament and receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament

They entered the tournament as the No. 16 seed in the South region and were upset by No. 16 seed Hartford in the First Four.

Roster

-The team will be composed of 10 players, all of whom are returning from last year.

-There are two seniors on the team, one junior, and seven sophomores.

-The team’s leading scorer from last year, point guard Tyler Nelson, is back for his senior year.

-Forward Elhadji Ndoye is also back for his senior year. He was second on the team in scoring last year and led the team in rebounding.

-The team will be coached by Mark Schlissel, who is entering his second season at CCU.

Schedule

The CCU Basketball Schedule has been released and here’s what you need to know. The Chanticleers will open up their season on the road against Appalachian State on November 6th. They will then have a stretch of four home games starting with North Carolina A&T on November 10th.

The home games will also include matchups against Marshall (Nov. 17), South Carolina State (Nov. 24), and UAB (Dec. 1). After that, CCU will go back on the road to take on Clemson (Dec. 4) and Florida A&M (Dec. 15).

They will then come back home for five straight games, starting with Howard on December 19th. That game will be followed by contests against local rivals Coastal Carolina (Dec. 29), Charleston Southern (Jan. 5), Winthrop (Jan. 7), and Gardner-Webb (Jan. 12).

The CCU Chanticleers currently have a record of 21-5, which is good for second place in the conference behind only the Liberty Flames They have clinched a double bye in the upcoming conference tournament and will look to make a run at the NCAA Tournament

In their last game, the Chanticleers defeated the High Point Panthers by a score of 92-64. Sophomore guard DeVante’ Jones led the way with 25 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. He was one of four CCU players to score in double figures.

The Chanticleers will be back in action on Thursday, February 27th when they take on the UNC Asheville Bulldogs. The game will tip off at 7:00 PM EST and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The CCU men’s basketball team will open its 2020-21 season on Wednesday, November 25, at home against Virginia Commonwealth University The Rams are coming off a 20-11 season in which they won the Atlantic 10 regular season championship and reached the semifinals of the conference tournament CCU is coached by former NBA player and Coach Mike Jones.

The Chants will play their first seven games at home, including a December 1 meeting with reigning National Champion Baylor University CCU will also host North Carolina A&T (December 4), Queen’s University of Charlotte (December 8), Appalachian State (December 19), and Coastal Carolina (December 22).
