On the Bubble

It’s that time of year again: the college baseball season is heating up and the postseason is right around the corner. But before we can start talking about who’s going to make the College World Series we need to figure out who’s going to get into the tournament in the first place.

There are 32 automatic bids up for grabs, given to the winners of each conference’s regular season or tournament. That leaves 36 at-large bids to be handed out by the NCAA selection committee. So who’s on the bubble?

Here are a few teams that are on the outside looking in as we head into the final weeks of the season:

-The Texas Longhorns are 28-22 overall and 10-14 in conference play They have some big wins against Baylor, TCU, and Oklahoma State but their losing record in conference play will likely hurt their chances at an at-large bid.
-The Florida Gators are 33-18 overall and 15-9 in conference play. They’ve had a solid season overall, but they’re just 2-8 against teams ranked in the top 25. They’ll need to string together some big wins in their final few games to have a shot at an at-large bid.
-The UC Irvine Anteaters are 30-19 overall and 14-7 in conference play. They’re currently riding a five-game losing streak which has put them on the bubble heading into the final weeks of the season.

Bubble Watch

The college baseball Regular Season is winding down and conference tournaments are just around the corner. That means it’s time to start paying attention to the bubble.

There are a lot of teams on the bubble this year, but here are a few that stand out:

– Clemson is currently sitting at 29-20 overall and 13-15 in the ACC. They are right on the bubble and will need to have a strong finish to make the tournament.

Georgia Tech is 27-22 overall and 11-17 in the ACC. They are currently outside of the bubble, but if they can string together some wins, they could find themselves in contention for an at-large bid.

These teams will all be fighting for their lives over the next few weeks. It should be an exciting finish to the season!

Athlete

With the College Baseball season in full swing, many teams are jockeying for position in the race to make the postseason. The top eight teams in each conference will earn a spot in the conference tournament with the winner of that tournament receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship

There are a lot of factors that go into predicting which teams will make the postseason, but one important metric is the RPI (ratings percentage index). The RPI is a formula that takes into account a team’s winning percentage, its opponents’ winning percentage, and its opponents’ opponents’ winning percentage. It’s used by the NCAA selection committee to help choose which teams will receive at-large bids to the tournament.

Here’s a look at which teams are on the bubble for each conference, as well as some other teams that are worth watching.
