What is the College World Series?
The College World Series is an annual college Baseball Tournament that takes place in Omaha, Nebraska. The event features eight teams from around the country, who compete in a double-elimination format. The winner of the College World Series is crowned the National Champion of Collegiate Baseball
How did the College World Series come to be?
The inaugural College World Series was played in 1947 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Eight teams participated in that first tournament: California, Cornell, Missouri, Navy, Penn State Rice, San Francisco and Wake Forest The event was the brainchild of Kalamazoo businessman J.O. “Babe” Cleghorn and Norton Garstin of the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
In 1949, the College World Series moved to Wichita, Kansas. It would remain there through 1937, with the exception of four years (1954-57) when it was held in Omaha, Nebraska at Rosenblatt Stadium.
The tournament expanded to 10 teams in 1950 and then 12 teams in 1968. In 2006, the NCAA announced that the field would expand again to include eight more schools, bringing the total number of participants to 24. The current format includes two four-team brackets competing in double-elimination play until each bracket has one team remaining. These two teams then face off in a best-of-three Championship Series
What teams re Playing in the College World Series?
The College World Series (CWS) is an annual June Baseball Tournament held in Omaha, Nebraska. The CWS is the culmination of the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship which determines the national college baseball champion. Eight teams play in the double-elimination tournament with the losers playing in consolation games. The event has been held every year since 1947 and tickets always sell out fast!

How do teams qualify for the College World Series?
The road to Omaha and the College World Series starts with 64 teams. Thirty-one teams earn an automatic berth by winning their conference tournament while 33 qualifying teams are selected by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.
The 64-team, double-elimination tournament starts with regionals. There are 16 regionals consisting of four teams each. The winners of each regional advance to one of eight best-of-three Super Regionals which are played at the campus sites of the higher seeds. The eight winners advance to Omaha and the College World Series
What is the format of the College World Series?
The NCAA Division I Baseball Championship is an annual tournament held to determine the top baseball team in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The tournament consists of 64 teams, 28 of which are awarded automatic spots, with the remaining 36 spots filled through at-large selections.
The event, which takes place every June, is hosted by Omaha and features play at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha It starts with regionals, progresses to Super Regionals and then culminates in the College World Series (CWS), a double-elimination tournament to determine the national champion. Who are the College World Series broadcasters?
The ESPN family of networks will provide exclusive live television coverage of the entire event for the 23rd consecutive year.
Lead play-by-play voice Brad Nessler and analysts Todd Walker and Kyle Peterson will call the games from the booth, with reporter Kaylee Hartung joining them on site.
Scott Van Pelt will host ESPN’s flagship studio show SportsCenter on site from Omaha throughout the tournament, with analyst Aaron Boone joining him on Monday, June 25 and Tuesday, June 26. Analysts Karl Ravech Dallas Braden, Eduardo Perez and Buster Olney will also appear onsite throughout the tournament.
