Colorado State’s History with Baseball

Few people know that the history of Colorado State’s Baseball Team dates back to the late 1800s. The team was founded in 1893 and played their first season in 1894. Since then, the team has gone through ups and downs, but they have always been a part of Colorado State athletics.

The early years of the program were very successful. The team won conference championships in 1901, 1902, 1903, and 1904. They also made it to the College World Series in 1906 and 1908. However, the program then went through a long drought where they had little success.

It wasn’t until 2012 that the team began to turn things around. That year, they made it to the Mountain West conference tournament for the first time since 2003. They followed that up with another appearance in 2013. Finally, in 2014, they broke through and won the Mountain West Conference Tournament Championship This allowed them to make their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1987.

Since then, the team has only continued to improve. They made it back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2015 and 2016. In 2017, they had their best season ever, finishing with a school-record 46 wins. They made it all the way to the College World Series where they eventually finished as runners-up.

Since 2006, the Colorado State Rams baseball team has been coached by Jim Schlossnagle.
