Denison Baseball: A Team to Watch
Denison University’s Baseball Team is a team to watch this season. The squad is off to a hot start, with a record of 8-2. The team is led by senior captain Jake Fink, who is batting .500 with four home runs and 13 RBIs. The pitching staff has been lights out, with a team ERA of 2.48. The team has already wins against some top competition, including a 11-1 victory over then-ranked #9 Ohio Wesleyan University. Be sure to catch a game if you can!
The History of Denison Baseball
Denison baseball has a long and storied history dating back to the late 1800s. The team has seen many highs and lows over the years, but they have always been a team to watch
The team was founded in 1887, and they quickly rose to prominence in the late 19th century. They won their first National Championship in 1895, and they would go on to win five more titles in the next decade.

The Coaches of Denison Baseball
The Denison baseball coaching staff is led by Head Coach Mike Daubenmire. A four-time HCAC Coach of the Year and two-time national Coach of the Year, Coach Daubenmire has been with the team for 11 years. Under his leadership, the team has captured nine HCAC championships and made seven appearances in the NCAA Division III tournament.
Assistant coaches Jake Kilgore and Kyle McKinzie round out the Coaching Staff Coach Kilgore is in his first season with the team, while Coach McKinzie is in his second. Both coaches were All-Conference players during their collegiate careers.

The Denison baseball team is made up of some very talented and hardworking young men. As the team gears up for another season, here are some of the players you can expect to see on the field.
Leading the team is pitcher Levi Barkan, who is returning for his senior year. Barkan has been a key player for Denison over the last few years, and is expected to be one of the best pitchers in the conference this year. Another player to watch is third baseman Joe Maggiore, who is also entering his senior year. Maggiore is a power hitter who has been one of the most consistent players on the team over the last few years. Infielder/outfielder Matt Meyers is another player who is expected to have a big year. Meyers is a Junior who has seen his role on the team increase each year, and this season he is expected to be one of the team’s top hitters.

Wooster and Denison are two of the top teams in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) year in and year out. The Trillium Cup was created in 2013 to add some extra meaning to their regular season meetings. The cup is named after the three-leafed plant that is found throughout Ohio and symbolizes the strength of the two teams’ rivalry.

Denison Baseball is a team to watch because of their strong pitching staff, deep lineup, and experienced coaching.
The pitching staff is led by ace left-hander Jack Wolgemuth, who was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year last season. He’s joined by right-handers Tim Ellis and Sam Little, who give the team a great 1-2-3 punch at the top of the rotation. The bullpen is also deep and experienced, with closer Nate Jones leading the way.
The lineup features a mix of power and speed, with several players capable of hitting for both average and power. They also have good speed on the basepaths, which makes them dangerous on offense.
