The Edinboro men’s basketball team is heading to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history! The Scots will take on Louisville in the first round on Thursday, March 15.

The Edinboro men’s Basketball team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Division II tournament. The team will play in the first round on Saturday, March 16 against West Liberty University The game will be played at a neutral site, to be determined. This is the first time in school history that the Edinboro men’s basketball team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Tournament
Edinboro Women’s Basketball
The Edinboro University women’s Basketball team is headed to the NCAA Tournament! This is the first time in program history that the team has made it to the NCAA tournament The team has had an incredible season and their hard work has paid off. The Edinboro community is behind them 100% and we wish them the best of luck in the tournament.
Edinboro Basketball History
Since the men’s basketball team’s inception in 1909, Edinboro University has been a Division II program. The team has never advanced to the NCAA tournament at the Division I level.
The women’s team started in 1974 and is also a Division II program. They have qualified for the NCAA tournament four times, most recently in 1989.
In recent years both teams have struggled to compete at a high level. However, the men’s team has shown improvement under Head Coach Stan Swank, who took over in 2016.
This season, the men’s team had a breakout year, going 24-6 overall and 15-3 in conference play They won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament
The women’s team also had a solid season, going 17-11 overall and 12-6 in conference play They fell just short of qualifying for the NCAA Tournament but will participate in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).
This is a historic moment for Edinboro University athletics. For the first time ever, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will be playing in postseason tournaments
Edinboro in the NCAA Tournament
The Edinboro men’s basketball team is headed to the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history. The Fighting Scots will take on Indiana (Pa.) in the first round of the Midwest Region on Tuesday, March 15 at 5:40 p.m.
This is a historic moment for Edinboro University and the town of Edinboro, Pennsylvania. The Scots are 26-5 overall this season and won the PSAC Championship. They are led by redshirt senior guard Mitchell King, who was named PSAC Player of the Year.
Edinboro head coach Pat Clifford said, “We are extremely excited to be heading to the NCAA Tournament This is a great accomplishment for our program and our university.”
The Fighting Scots will take on the Crimson Hawks, who are 23-7 overall and won the West Virginia conference tournament Indiana (Pa.) is led by junior guard Marcus Johnson who was named WVC Player of the Year.
The winner of the Edinboro/Indiana (Pa.) game will take on either Ohio State or South Dakota State in the second round on Thursday, March 17 at a time to be determined.

The Edinboro basketball team has a strong roster, led by senior guard Dwayne Woods. Woods was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Player of the Year, and is averaging 18.6 points per game He is joined by fellow senior guard Ja’Darius Clark, who is averaging 16.5 points per game The team also has strong frontcourt play, with junior forward DeShaun Millington averaging a double-double with 10.5 points and 10 rebounds per game

This will be Edinboro’s fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their first since 2015. The Scots are coming off a seasons in which they went 22-7 and won the Pennsylvania State Athletic conference championship Colorado Mesa is 22-8 on the season and finished second in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference
The winner of Thursday’s game will advance to play the winner of UC San Diego and Point Loma on Saturday, March 17th at 5:00 pm EST. That game will also be carried live on ESPN 3.

Edinboro University Basketball will make its first NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament appearance in school history after receiving an at-large bid to the tournament on Sunday.
The Fightin’ Scots, who finished the regular season with a 21-11 record, will take on No. 4 seed Indiana (17-14) in the first round of the Tournament on Thursday March 15 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich.
Edinboro earned an at-large bid after finishing tied for second place in the Mid-American Conference with a 9-7 record. The Fightin’ Scots entered the MAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed and won their first game against No. 6 Bowling Green State before falling to eventual champion Kent State in the semifinals.

The Edinboro men’s basketball team is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history, and they have their coaches to thank.
Head coach Brendan Haley and Assistant Coach Mike Zavislan have led the team to a 28-3 record this season, including a perfect 16-0 mark in conference play.
“It’s been an incredible ride,” Haley said. “I’m so proud of this team and everything they’ve accomplished.”
“We knew we had the potential to be really good this season,” Zavislan said. “But to go undefeated in conference and make it to the NCAA tournament is just unbelievable.”
The team will find out their NCAA tournament fate on Sunday, March 11th.
