The EIU Baseball Team has released their roster for the upcoming season Head Coach Jay Knox will be looking to lead his team to a conference title this year. The roster features a mix of experienced veterans and talented young players

The starting lineup will feature seniors Jake Roe and Ryan Johnson as well as junior Alex Smith. Roe, who is a four-year starter, will be the team’s primary catcher.Johnson will start in center field, while Smith will start in left field

The pitching staff will be led by seniors Michael Riggins and Cole Thompson. Riggins, who was named the conference’s top pitcher last season, will once again serve as the team’s ace. Thompson, who was second on the team in wins last year, will be the team’s number two starter.

The EIU baseball team is set to begin their season on February 15th with a Home game against Wright State

The Eastern Illinois baseball team will have a lot of new faces on the roster this season as they look to improve on their 18-32 record from a year ago.

The Panthers have added 16 newcomers to the team, including 12 freshmen and four transfers.

“We are excited about the group of guys we have brought in,” said head coach Jason Anderson. “We feel like we have addressed some needs and strengthened our roster in key areas.”

One of the areas that Anderson believes the team has improved is in the pitching department.

“We have added some quality arms to our pitching staff,” said Anderson. “We feel like we have more depth and more experience on the mound than we did a year ago.”

The team will also be looking for leadership from its eight seniors, including three starters from last year’s squad.

“Our seniors have done a great job of leading by example,” said Anderson. “They have worked hard and set the tone for our team.”

The Panthers will open their season on February 14th with a three-game series at home against Ohio University

“We are really excited about our roster for this upcoming season ” Mastroianni said. “We have a lot of young talent that we are really high on, and we think that we can surprise some people this year.”

The team will open up their season on February 15th, when they travel to Florida for a three-game series against Florida International University
