The team’s schedule is packed with highly-competitive games against some of the best teams in the nation, making it one of the most challenging and exciting schedules in all of Collegiate Baseball Here’s a quick overview of the team’s schedule for the upcoming season

March:
The Bruins open their season with a five-game road trip to California, taking on some of the top teams in Division III baseball They’ll face off against Concordia University (Irvine), Chapman University Whittier College, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps before returning home for their first home series of the year against crosstown rivals Lewis & Clark College.

April:
In April, the Bruins will play a mix of home and away games, taking on some of the best teams in the region. They’ll have home series against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Pacific Lutheran University Linfield College, and Whitworth University, and they’ll hit the road for tough road series against Lewis & Clark College and Willamette University The team will also travel to Texas for a pair of non-conference games against Austin College.

May:
May is WHEN THE BRUINS REALLY HEAT UP! The team will play their final regular season series against crosstown rivals Pacific University before embarking on what they hope is a long post-season run. The Bruins have historically been one of the best teams in Division III baseball during May and June, so be sure to catch them in action if you can!

The George Fox University Bruins are gearing up for another exciting season of baseball and there are plenty of games that fans won’t want to miss. Here is a look at the team’s schedule, along with some information on the opponents they’ll be facing.

February
26 – vs. Willamette – Home opener! The Bruins will be looking to start the season off on a high note against their conference rivals, the Willamette Bearcats.

March
3-5 – at Pacific (Tigard, Oregon) – The Bruins head south to take on the Pacific Boxers in a three-game series Pacific finished last season with a record of 15-29, but they’ll be looking to turn things around in 2016.
11-13 – at Lewis & Clark (Portland, Oregon) – Another three-game series finds the Bruins taking on the Lewis & Clark Pioneers. Lewis & Clark had a rough 2015 season, finishing with a record of 10-32. But they’ll be looking to rebound this year and give the Bruins a tough time.
18-19 – vs. Corban (Salem, Oregon) – The Bruins wrap up their home stand with a two-game series against the Corban Warriors. Corban finished last year with an overall record of 20-28 and will be looking to improve upon that in 2016.
25-26 – at Linfield (McMinnville, Oregon) – The Bruins travel to McMinnville to take on conference rivals Linfield in a two-game set. Linfield is always tough competition and the Bruins will have their work cut out for them in this one.

The George Fox University baseball team has a new Head Coach this season, Matt Acker. He is originally from Bend, Oregon and played baseball for the University of Portland. He has been a head coach for four years now, two of which were spent coaching at Lewis & Clark College. His assistant coaches are Assistant Head Coach Kris Dolan, Pitching Coach Isaiah Johnson, and Hitting & Infield Coach Dan Ramsey.

The team’s first game is on February 2nd against Whitman College at home. They will then have their first conference game against Puget Sound on February 16th. The conference games are always important because they help determine seeding for the playoffs. The team’s last regular season game is on May 5th against Concordia University.

The schedule is also a reflection of the university’s commitment to excellence in athletics.

The season begins in February with a home series against Concordia University. George Fox then hits the road for a swing through Southern California taking on some of the best teams in Division III The Bruins return home for a series against Lewis & Clark College before embarking on their annual spring break trip. This year, the team will travel to North Carolina to take on Pfeiffer University and Guilford College.

After returning from spring break, George Fox will play host to crosstown rival Linfield College for a three-game series. The Bruins then hit the road for games against Whitman College and Pacific Lutheran University before returning home for another three-game set, this time against Willamette University George Fox wraps up its regular season schedule with a road trip to play Lewis & Clark College and Pacific University.

The Bruins have a long history of success in the postseason and will be looking to make another deep run in this year’s playoffs. George Fox has made 21 appearances in the NCAA Division III World Series winning it all in 2004. The team has also won 12 conference championships most recently in 2016.

The team will also participate in two tournaments: the West Conference Crossover Tournament from March 22-24 and the NWC Baseball Tournament from May 16-18. George Fox University has won the NWC tournament four times in the past six years.
