The Gaels will have a strong pitching staff once again, led by ace pitcher Timmy Landers. Landers was named Second Team All-MAAC last season after going 7-4 with a 3.38 ERA. He will be joined by fellow starters Jack Quinn and Sean Sweeney who both had solid years in 2018. The bullpen will be anchored by closer Liam Mead, who had eight saves last season.

Offensively, the Gaels will be led by third baseman Tyler Pagano and outfielder TJ Rivera. Pagano was named First Team All-MAAC last season after hitting .337 with six home runs and 35 RBIs. Pat Carey is in his fourth season as Head Coach of the Gaels. Prior to coming to Iona, Carey spent four seasons as an Assistant Coach at his alma mater, Niagara University He has also had coaching stops at Canisius College St. Bonaventure University, and Monroe Community College In 2016, Carey led Iona to their first AAC tournament appearance since 2012.

Tim Rooney is in his first season as an assistant coach at Iona. Rooney comes to New Rochelle after spending the last two seasons as Head coach of Division III John Jay College. He has also served as an assistant coach at Manhattanville College and Fordham University

Mike Ventura is in his first season as Iona’s pitching coach. Ventura comes to Iona after spending 2018 as pitching coach at Niagara County Community College He has also coached at SUNY Fredonia and Monroe Community College

Joe Carbone is in his first season as Iona’s director of operations. Carbone comes to Iona after spending 2018 as an assistant coach at Stony Brook University. He has also coached at Lincoln Memorial University and Manhattanville College
