James Mcandrew’s Early Life and Career
James Mcandrew was born on September 6, 1995, in San Diego California. He grew up playing baseball and football in his hometown. Mcandrew’s parents were both professional athletes; his father played minor League Baseball and his mother was a college softball player. Mcandrew decided to pursue a career in baseball after watching his older brother play in college.
Mcandrew attended the University of San Diego where he played on the baseball team He was drafted by the New York Mets in the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft. Mcandrew made his professional debut that same year, playing for the Mets’ minor league affiliate, the Brooklyn Cyclones. He played for the Cyclones for two seasons before being promoted to the Mets’ Double-A affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in 2019.Mcandrew has continued to rise through the ranks of the Mets’ organization and is currently a member of their Triple-A affiliate, the Syracuse Mets.
