Jeremy Roach’s season-high 15 points help Duke beat Wofford
In a game where the Duke starters struggled to find their rhythm, freshman Jeremy Roach came off the bench and scored a season-high 15 points to help the Blue Devils beat Wofford 72-58.
Roach, who is Duke’s backup point guard was 5-of-9 from the field and 2-of-4 from three-point range He also had four assists and two steals in 28 minutes of action.
“Jeremy was terrific,” Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “He gave us a big lift offensively and defensively.”
The Blue Devils (9-1) trailed 29-28 at halftime but Roach helped spark a 12-2 run to start the second half. Duke would never trail again.
“I just tried to come in and be aggressive,” Roach said. “My teammates did a great job of finding me when I was open.”
Wofford (5-5) was led by Storm Murphy, who had 17 points, but the Terriers shot just 33 percent from the field as a team.

The win improves Duke to 2-0 on the young season, with both wins coming at home. The Blue Devils will now hit the road for their first true test of the season, taking on No. 2 Kentucky in Lexington on Saturday night.

His 15 points were the most by a Duke freshman since RJ Barrett scored 16 against Central Arkansas back on Nov. 6.
The Blue Devils (4-2) got off to a slow start offensively, as they trailed 11-4 seven minutes into the game. However, they were able to regroup and take a 28-27 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Duke’s defense took over, as they held Wofford (3-3) to just 25 percent shooting from the field. The Terriers were also just 1-of-8 from three-point range in the second half.
Leading by four with under two minutes to play, Roach delivered the dagger with a deep three that put Duke up 57-51. The Blue Devils would go on to close out the victory at the Free Throw Line
