Kevin Delaney: A Great Leader

Kevin Delaney was born on December 13, 1967, in Oshawa, Ontario. He began his hockey career playing minor hockey in Whitby, and later played Junior A Hockey for the Oshawa Legionnaires. Delaney was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft and went on to play for several NHL Teams including the Nordiques, New York Rangers Detroit Red Wings Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators. He retired from professional hockey in 2001.

During his career, Kevin Delaney was known as a great leader both on and off the ice. He was captain of the Quebec Nordiques during the 1993-94 season, and also served as captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 1997-98 season. He was known for his dedication to his team and his commitment to winning.

After retiring from hockey, Kevin Delaney became a successful businessman. He is currently the president of KD Enterprises, a sports marketing and management company based in Oshawa. Delaney also had a great sense of humor and was always able to lighten the mood in the locker room He was also a great player on the ice, which is something his teammates appreciated.

“He was a skilled player and could really shoot the puck,” said Ray. “But he also worked hard and wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. He would do whatever it took to help his team win.”

Delaney is now an Assistant Coach with the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning and is helping them try to win their first Stanley Cup Championship. His former teammates say they are not surprised that he is having success in his new role.

“He’s just as good of a coach as he was a player,” said Ray. “He knows the game well and knows how to motivate his players. He’s definitely someone who knows how to win.”

Delaney has always been a strong leader, both on and off the ice. As a captain of his junior Hockey Team the Oshawa Generals, he led his team to victory in the Memorial Cup in 1987. He was also named the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Player of the Year that same year. After being drafted into the NHL by the Quebec Nordiques in 1988, Delaney went on to have a successful career with several teams including the New York Rangers Los Angeles Kings Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks He won a Stanley Cup with the Rangers in 1994 and was an NHL All-Star in 1999.

In addition to his accomplishments as a player, Kevin Delaney is also known for his work as a coach and mentor. He has been coaching Youth Hockey teams since he retired from playing professionally in 2006. In 2009, he was hired as an assistant coach for the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack/Connecticut Whale. He was promoted to head coach of the Whale in 2012 and has been with the team ever since. Under his leadership, The Whale have made several playoff appearances and won the Calder Cup in 2015.

Kevin Delaney was born in Brockville, Ontario, on October 6, 1966. Delaney grew up playing hockey and excelled at the sport. He played for the Brockville Braves of the Ontario Hockey Association’s junior A division from 1983 to 1985. In his last year with the Braves, Delaney was named the league’s most Valuable Player

After his junior career, Delaney attended Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where he played for the school’s Hockey Team He graduated from Lakehead with a degree in business administration in 1989.

Delaney began his Professional Hockey career with the Indianapolis Ice of the National Hockey League in 1989. He spent two seasons with the Ice before being traded to the Milwaukee Admirals in 1991. He played one season with the Admirals before returning to Indianapolis.

In 1993, Delaney left Indianapolis and signed with HC Ambri-Piotta of Switzerland’s National League A. He played two seasons in Switzerland before returning to North America to play for the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League in 1995.

Delaney retired from professional hockey in 1996 and returned to his hometown of Brockville, where he opened a sports memorabilia shop. He also worked as a financial planner and an insurance broker.

In 2001, Kevin married his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Goplin. The couple has two children together: daughter Hannah and son Jake.
