The Kutztown baseball team is gearing up for another exciting season of competition. Here is your guide to the upcoming season including key dates, opponents, and ways to follow the action.

The team will open its season with a three-game series against conference foe Shippensburg on February 28th. The following weekend, the team will travel to take on West Chester in a four-game set.

On March 27th, Kutztown will open its home schedule with a three-game series against Millersville. Other key home games include a four-game set against East Stroudsburg (April 10-11), and a three-game series against Bloomsburg (May 1-2).

Kutztown University’s Baseball Schedule includes games against some of the top teams in Division III baseball The Golden Bears will compete against powers like Rowan, Kean, and Rutgers-Camden in the early season. They’ll also face some tough competition in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), with games against Millersville, West Chester and Shippensburg. The Golden Bears will look to build on their success from last season, when they finished with a 30-17 record and qualified for the conference tournament

Kutztown baseball is a program on the rise. The team has shown steady improvement in recent years and they are looking to take things to the next level in 2019. Here is a closer look at the team:

The Kutztown roster is loaded with talent, led by senior pitcher/first baseman Ryan McSweeney. McSweeney was an all-conference performer last season, and he will be counted on to be one of the team’s leaders this year. Other key returnees include junior outfielder/pitcher Will Brown, who was also all-conference last year, and senior infielder/pitcher Mike Mastronardi.

The team will also have some new faces in 2019, including junior transfer catcher/infielder Andrew Knapp and freshman pitcher/infielder Luke Johnson. Both Knapp and Johnson are expected to make an immediate impact.

The Coaching Staff is also very excited about this year’s team. Head Coach Travis Lyons enters his fifth season at the helm, and he will be joined by new assistant coaches Marty Owens and Zachary Detweiler. Owens comes to Kutztown after spending two seasons as an assistant at Division II West Chester while Detweiler spent last season as an assistant at Division III Lebanon Valley College

Lyons believes that this year’s team has the potential to be special. “We have a lot of talent and we’re excited about what we can accomplish this season,” he said. “We’re looking forward to getting out on the field and competing.”

The schedule for 2019 is set, and Kutztown will open the season with a three-game series against Seton Hill on February 22-24. The home opener will be March 5 against Lycoming College.

Kutztown Baseball: Coaches and Staff

The Kutztown baseball coaching staff is led by head coach Pat Cunningham. Cunningham has been with the program since its inception in 2006 and has amassed a career record of 474-217-3. The staff also includes Assistant coaches Greg Dilsen, Mike Tatsch, and Nick Spangenberg.

Kutztown’s 2018 season will be its 13th in program history. The team will look to build on the success of last year’s squad, which won a school-record 37 games and reached the NCAA Division II World Series for the first time in program history.

Kutztown Baseball will call Laureate Park home for the 2019 season. The six-field complex is located at 300 East Laurel Street in Kutztown, Pa. The facility features a 300-foot baseball field a 225-foot softball field, four batting cages, two bullpens and a concessions area. The park also has a playground, a walking trail and a picnic pavilion.

Kutztown’s home opener is set for Saturday, March 2 against Penn State Berks First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

The team has existed since 1884 and competes at the Division II level in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Golden Bears are a charter member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Kutztown has had 15 appearances in the NCAA Division II World Series with their most recent appearance coming in 2016.

Kutztown Baseball will be back in action this spring! Check out their schedule below to see when they’ll be playing near you.

The Kutztown Baseball Team is made up of students from Kutztown University who compete against other colleges and universities in the area. The team is a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and plays its home games at Keystone Field on the university campus.

The season runs from late February to early May, with conference play beginning in early April. The team will play a total of 28 games this season, including 14 home games

Kutztown’s first game is on February 23rd, away at Lebanon Valley College. The home opener is on March 3rd against Elizabethtown College. conference play begins on April 6th at home against East Stroudsburg University
