The Lexington High school basketball Coaching Staff

The Lexington high school basketball Coaching Staff is comprised of Head Coach John Calipari assistant coaches Kenny Payne and Tony Barbee, and strength and Conditioning Coach Rob Mohler. Calipari is in his tenth year as the head coach of the Wildcats, and has led the team to a record of 275-63 during his tenure. He has been named the SEC Coach of the Year four times, and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.

Payne has been on Calipari’s staff since 2009, and has helped lead the Wildcats to four SEC Championships and two Final Fours. Barbee joined the staff in 2014, and has helped Lexington to two SEC Championships and one Final Four appearance. Mohler is in his fourth year with the Wildcats, and has played a key role in developing Lexington’s student-athletes into some of the best basketball players in the country.

The crowd was electric, and the team was fired up. The Minutemen went on a quick 8-0 run to tie the game up with 20 seconds left. The other team’s star player who had been fouled out earlier in the game, was sitting on the bench with his head in his hands. The Lexington fans were going wild. The Minutemen had a chance to win the game with a free throw but they missed it. The other team got the rebound and they were able to hold on to win the game in overtime.
