The Different Types of Games on the Schedule
The 2018-2019 season for the Marshall basketball team is set, and there are some exciting games on the schedule. Let’s take a look at the different types of games that are scheduled.
First, there are conference games. These are the most important games of the season, as they determine Marshall’s chances of making it to the NCAA tournament Conference games are always tough and can be close matchups.
Second, there are non-conference games. These games provide an opportunity for Marshall to play against teams from other parts of the country and see how they stack up. Non-conference games can be used as a measuring stick to see where the team is at before conference play begins.
Finally, there are exhibition games. These are typically played against lower-level opponents and provide an opportunity for players to get experience and for coaches to try out new strategies. Exhibition games don’t count towards Marshall’s record for the season.
So there you have it! Three different types of games that make up the Marshall Basketball Schedule Be sure to check out all of the exciting matchups this season!
The pros and cons of the Schedule
After a long offseason, the college basketball world finally has some answers. One of the biggest questions every year is “when will the schedule be released?”. Over the past few years, we have seen the release date move around, but this year it looks like it will be released on September 30th.
The schedule can tell us a lot about a team. For example, last year Marshall played Kentucky in the first game of the season. We knew that Kentucky was going to be good, but we had no idea that they would go undefeated and win the National Championship This year, Marshall opens up against West Virginia We know that West Virginia is going to be good, but we don’t know how good they are going to be.
The schedule can also tell us a lot about a conference. For example, last year the Big 12 had a lot of good teams, but they only had two teams in the top 25 (Kansas and Oklahoma). This year, the Big 12 has four teams in the top 25 (Kansas, Baylor, Iowa State and Texas Tech).
So what does this all mean for Marshall? Well, we will have to wait and see. But one thing is for sure: the fans are going to be excited for basketball season!
