With the 2017-2018 season right around the corner, we thought it would be a good idea to introduce you to the Maryland men’s basketball team This year’s roster is made up of 12 returning players and 4 new recruits. Let’s take a look at who they are.

Returning Players:
-Senior guard Melo Trimble is the Terps’ leading scorer from last season. He averaged 16.8 points per game and was named to the All-Big Ten first team.
-Junior center Trayvon Reed is a 6’10”, 235-pound big man who provides a physical presence in the paint. Last season, he averaged 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game
-Sophomore guard Kevin Huerter is a sharpshooter who saw significant playing time as a freshman. He hit 42% of his three-point attempts last season and averaged 9.3 points per game
-Freshman forward Justin Jackson was one of Maryland’s top recruits last year. He missed most of last season with a shoulder injury but is expected to be healthy for this season. He’s a versatile 6’7″ forward who can score inside and out.

New Recruits:
-Freshman guard Darryl Morsell was highly sought after by several top programs but chose to stay home and play for the Terps. The 6’5″ Baltimore native is an athletic wing player with the ability to score in a variety of ways.

2017 Maryland Basketball Roster Players to Watch

Jalen Smith: A 6’10” forward, Smith is one of the most versatile players on the team. He’s a great shooter, but can also put the ball on the floor and finish at the rim. He’s expected to be one of the leaders on this year’s squad.

Aaron Wiggins: A 6’6″ wing, Wiggins is an elite scorer who can shoot from anywhere on the court. He’s also a good rebounder and defender, and should be one of the go-to guys on offense this season.

Darryl Morsell: A 6’5″ guard, Morsell is one of the best defenders in the country. He’s quick and athletic, and can guard multiple positions. He’s also a good shooter and can provide a spark on offense when needed.

Eric Ayala: A 6’5″ guard, Ayala is another versatile player who can scoring and shooting ability. He’s also a good rebounder for his position, and will be counted on to provide leadership for this year’s squad.
