The team’s history and accomplishments
The Michigan Wolverines women’s ice hockey team is an NCAA Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Michigan The Wolverines have won eight NCAA Division I championships, the most of any team in the nation. They are also the only team to have appeared in all 18 NCAA Division I Women’s ice hockey Championships.
The Wolverines began play in 1997 and have been coached by Melanie Hoenshell since 2001. The team plays its home games at Yost Ice Arena on the university’s campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
In 2018, the Wolverines won their eighth NCAA Division I championship, defeating Cornell 3-1 in the Championship game With this win, Michigan surpassed Wisconsin for the most NCAA Championships in Division I history.
