Since its inception in 2001, the Millard West Baseball program has been on the rise. From its humble beginnings as a club team to its current status as a varsity sport, the program has come a long way in a short amount of time.

The 1970s and 1980s were relatively lean years for the program, but it rebounded in the 1990s under new Head Coach Mike Van Hook. Coach Van Hook led the team to several conference championships and helped set the stage for future success.

The 2000s were a decade of great success for the program, as they won multiple conference championships and made several trips to the State Tournament The decade was capped off by a state championship in 2010.

The program has continued to enjoy success in recent years winning another conference championship in 2016. The future looks bright for Millard West Baseball as they continue to produce great players and teams.

Much of this recent success can be attributed to head coach Steve Simpson, who took over the program in 2013. Since taking over, Coach Simpson has transformed Millard West Baseball into a perennial contender for Omaha’s best Class A program.
