Who Will Be the NBA Rookie MVP?

It’s a question that’s on the minds of many basketball fans who will be the NBA Rookie MVP? We take a look at some of the top contenders and make our predictions.

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft is widely expected to be the Rookie of the Year. The 20-year-old point guard has already shown glimpses of his fantastic potential, and he should only get better as he gains more experience. Given his natural ability and the weak competition in this year’s rookie class, Irving is a strong favorite to take home the ROY award.

Kemba Walker

What an interesting season it has been for Kemba Walker The Charlotte Hornets point guard was the ninth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and wasn’t expected to amount to much more than a solid role player But here we are, just a few years later, and Kemba is one of the best players in the league. He was recently named an All-Star for the first time in his career and is currently averaging 24 points per game which is good for fifth in the NBA.

Derrick Williams

Derrick Williams, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft is expected to be one of the league’s top rookies this season. The 6-foot-8 forward from Arizona has the size and athleticism to make an immediate impact in the NBA, and he’s already shown himself to be a scoring machine at the collegiate level.

Williams averaged 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore last season, leading Arizona to the NCAA tournament’s Sweet Sixteen He shot nearly 60 percent from the field and was named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press.

With his combination of size, strength, and scoring ability, Williams has all the tools to be a successful NBA player He should see significant playing time for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season, and he has a good chance to become one of the league’s top rookies.

Enes Kanter

Enes Kanter the third pick in the NBA draft is one of the most highly touted rookies. And for good reason – he’s a 7-footer with a 7’3” wingspan who can shoot, rebound and block shots He was also named the MVP of the Summer League where he averaged 18 points and 9 rebounds.

Some people have Kanter penciled in as the Rookie of the Year, but there are a few other players who could challenge him for that honor. Kyrie Irving the first pick in the draft, is a point guard with incredible shooting and ball-handling skills. Kemba Walker, another point guard led Connecticut to an NCAA championship last year and is known for his scoring ability.

Then there’s Kawhi Leonard who many believe is the best all-around player in the draft. Leonard isn’t as flashy as Irving or Walker, but he does everything well – he can score, rebound and play defense

So who will be the NBA Rookie of the Year? It’s hard to say – it will likely come down to who has the best season on the best team. But if I had to pick one player right now, I’d go with Kanter. He has all the tools to be a great player in this league, and I think he’ll put up big numbers right from the start.

Jan Vesely

As the Washington Wizards prepare for the upcoming NBA season fans are eager to see how the team’s rookies will perform. One player who is generating a lot of hype is Jan Vesely, a forward from the Czech Republic

Vesely was the sixth overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft and he has been impressing observers with his athleticism and shooting ability. Some have even said that he has the potential to be the Rookie of the Year.

With his combination of size and skill, Vesely could certainly make an impact on the court. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to live up to the hype.

Tristan Thompson

There is no doubting that the number one spot on this list goes to Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers The 6’9” Power Forward was the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and has not disappointed since putting on a Cavs uniform. Thompson was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team last season after averaging 9.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game but he has shown much improvement in his game during his sophomore year. So far this season, Thompson is averaging 11.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 52.1% from the field. He has also been a key contributor on the defensive end of the court, averaging 1.3 blocks per game.

Brandon Knight

Brandon Knight was the number eight pick in the 2011 NBA Draft but he’s looked like a much better player than that so far this season. He’s averaging over 17 points and four assists per game and he’s been one of the few bright spots on a otherwise disappointing Detroit Pistons team.

Knight has been particularly impressive lately, averaging over 21 points and five assists per game in his last 10 games. He’s also shown an ability to hit the big shot, nailing a game-winning three-pointer against the Minnesota Timberwolves last month.

With his strong play this season, Brandon Knight has emerged as one of the leading candidates for NBA Rookie of the Year honors. He’ll have stiff competition from Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs, but if he can keep up his strong play, Knight has a good chance to take home the award.

Alec Burks

Alec Burks is a 6’6″ shooting guard from the University of Colorado He was drafted by the Utah Jazz with the 12th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft In his rookie season, he averaged 12.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game During his second season, he saw an increase in playing time and averaged 14.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He has shown great improvement in his shooting, going from shooting 44 percent from the field as a rookie to 49 percent during his second season.

Marcus Morris

With the NBA season just around the corner, there is much speculation as to who will take home the coveted Rookie of the Year Award While there are many talented first-year players in the league, Marcus Morris of the Houston Rockets is our pick for MVP.

At 6’9”, Marcus has the size and strength to go up against even the best players in the league. He also has a deadly outside shot, which will come in handy against teams with big men who can block shots. In addition to his shooting ability, Marcus is a great rebounder and has shown that he can be a force on both ends of the court.

What makes Marcus really stand out, though, is his leadership ability. He was named captain of his college team as a junior, and led them to a Sweet Sixteen appearance. He also has two older brothers who have played in the NBA, so he knows what it takes to make it at the highest level

With all of these factors considered, we believe that Marcus Morris will be the 2018 NBA rookie of the Year.

Kawhi Leonard

Kawhi Leonard small forward for the San Antonio Spurs, is one of the most promising rookies in the NBA. Although he was drafted 15th overall, he has been compared to some of the best small forwards in the league. His skill set and drive separates him from other rookies, making him a strong candidate for Rookie of the Year.

Leonard has already made an impact on the Spurs. In just his rookie season, he was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team and helped the Spurs reach the Western Conference Finals. He averaged 8.6 points per game 3.1 rebounds per game, and 1.3 assists per game in the playoffs. While these numbers may not seem like much, they are a testament to Leonard’s potential. He is still developing his offensive game, but his defense is already top-notch. With more experience, Leonard will only get better and could eventually become one of the best players in the NBA.
