The NCHSAA Baseball Playoffs are underway, with teams from all over the state vying for a chance to win the championship. Here are the scores from the first round of play, broken down by conference.

#11 Lakewood 8, #6 North Duplin 2
#10 Dixon 3, #7 Red Springs 2
#2 Camden 9, #15 Union 1
Conference 2A
#1 Midway 18, #16 Clinton 0 (5 innings)
#8 James Kenan 11, #9 North Brunswick 3 11-0 after 5 innings called due to lightning delay Game will resume tomorrow at 5pm with JK leading 11-0 in top of 6th inning. Clinton must win to force a game 3. If they lose game will be over. If they win game will be considered complete and JK advances to next round. Score as of end of 5th inning will stand as final if game can’t be resumed or if JK leads after completion of game. If Clinton ties score after completion they will force a game 3 which would be played on Saturday at a time and location to be determined. If lightning delay had occurred in bottom of 5th with James Kenan batting and leading by more than 10 runs the game would have been considered complete and JK would have advanced. In any instance where the score is tied after 7 innings or more innings are played and an inning can’t be completed due to weather or darkness the score reverts back to the last completed inning and that is considered the final score. So if Game 1 could not be resumed tomorrow or if it is tied after 7 innings are completed then the score would revert back to end of 4th inning when it was called due to lightning delay which would make the final score 10-0 James Kenan. Tomorrow’s resumption will take place at James Kenan high school beginning at 5pm regardless of whether it rains or not. Please advise your readers/viewers/listeners accordingly. Thanks! Joel Davis NCHSAA Assistant Commissioner
