2017-2018 OSU Basketball Schedule Analysis

The Ohio State Buckeyes men’s Basketball team will look to build on their successful 2016-2017 campaign in which they finished 26-8 (16-2 in Big Ten play) and made it to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet Sixteen Head Coach Chris Holtmann, who took over the program just prior to last season, has put together a solid recruiting class and returns most of his Key Players from last year. With that said, let’s take a look at some of the key games on their schedule this upcoming season

OSU starts off their season with a bang, as they take on Marquette in the Gavitt Tipoff Games on November 14th. This will be a tough test for the Buckeyes, as Marquette went 19-12 (9-9 in Big East play) last season and made it to the NCAA Tournament The Buckeyes then have a stretch of five straight home games four of which are against mid-major opponents (South Carolina State, Rutgers, Robert Morris and UC Santa Barbara). They will then travel to Chicago to take on Northwestern on December 2nd. Northwestern went 15-17 (4-14 in Big Ten play) last season and will be looking to improve under new head coach Pat Fitzgerald.

The Buckeyes then have another long stretch of home games this time eight straight ( William & Mary, Michigan State Furman , Florida Atlantic , Youngstown State , Clemson , Oral Roberts , UConn ). This will be a good opportunity for the Buckeyes to rack up some wins and build some momentum heading into conference play They then open up conference play at home against Penn State on December 30th. Penn State went 15-18 (6-12 in Big Ten play) last season but is expected to be much improved under new Head Coach James Franklin.

2017-2018 Big Ten Basketball Schedule Analysis

With the 2017-2018 college basketball season now underway, it’s time to take a look at the conference schedules. After analyzing the data, here are a few interesting things that stand out about this year’s Big Ten Basketball Schedule

First, the conference has made an effort to reduce the number of midweek games, which can often be tough for students to attend. There are also fewer back-to-back games this season, giving teams a little more rest between games.

One change that may not be popular with fans is the decision to move some of the conference’s biggest rivalries (Michigan vs. Ohio State Indiana vs. Purdue) to later in the season. In previous years, these games were often played early in conference play, but this year they will be spread out throughout the season.

Overall, it looks like the conference has made some slight changes in an effort to improve the schedule for both fans and teams alike. We’ll see how these changes impact attendance and results as the season progresses.

-On December 2nd, Ohio State will travel to play Louisville in what will be a tough road test. Louisville is a very good team, and they will be looking to prove themselves early on in the season. Ohio State will need to be at their best to come away with a win in this one.

The ACC is once again expected to be one of the top conferences in the country, and there are plenty of intriguing matchups to keep an eye on throughout the season. Duke vs. UNC (February 8th): One of college basketball’s most storied rivalries will be renewed once again when Duke takes on UNC. These two teams are always among the top contenders in the conference, and this matchup will likely have major implications for the ACC title race.

Louisville vs. Virgina (January 6th): After Virginia knocked Louisville out of last year’s NCAA tournament there will surely be some bad blood between these two teams when they meet up early in conference play.
