The Ottawa Nationals

The Ottawa Nationals are a baseball team in the Canadian Capital City of Ottawa, Ontario. They play in the National League a Triple-A minor league affiliated with Major League Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays The Nationals are the second Ottawa-based team to bear that name; the first Ottawa Nationals played in the original National League from 1893 to 1907. The current team was founded in 2013 as an expansion franchise.

The team plays its home games at Raymond Chabot Grant Thorton Park, located in the city’s downtown core. The ballpark has a seating capacity of 10,000 spectators. The Nationals are owned by Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, which also owns the Ottawa 67’s, a major junior ice Hockey Team and TD Place Arena, home to both the 67’s and the city’s professional indoor lacrosse team, the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group also owns and operates Lansdowne Park, a multipurpose facility that houses TD Place Stadium and the Aberdeen Pavilion.

The Ottawa Lynx

The Ottawa Lynx were a Minor League Baseball team that was the Triple-A affiliate of the Montreal Expos They were located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and played their home games at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park. The team existed for 19 seasons, from 1993 to 2007.

In 2007, the Lynx relocated to Allentown, Pennsylvania, and became the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

The Ottawa Fat Cats

The Ottawa Fat Cats are a Canadian professional Baseball Team based in Ottawa, Ontario. They are members of the Frontier League an independent Minor League which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball The Fat Cats play their home games at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park.

The team was founded in 1993 as the North Shore Navigators, and was originally based in Lynn, Massachusetts. The franchise relocated to Nashua, New Hampshire in 1995 and became the Nashua Pride. In 2004, the team was purchased by new ownership group and moved to Ottawa. The franchise took on the name of the Ottawa Lynx, which had been the city’s Triple-A minor league baseball affiliate from 1993 to 2007; the Lynx franchise had relocated to Allentown, Pennsylvania following that season. The Fat Cats name and logo were announced on October 20, 2009.

The Kanata Stallions

The Kanata Stallions are Ottawa’s Minor League Baseball team. The team plays in the National League and is affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays The Stallions are based in Kanata, Ontario, Canada.

The Stallions play their home games at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park, which is located in Ottawa’s west end. The ballpark has a capacity of 10,332 people.

The Stallions were founded in 1998 and have won two league championships, in 1999 and 2000. The team’s mascot is a horse named Sammy.

The Nepean Brewers

The Nepean Brewers are Ottawa’s very own semi-professional baseball team The team was founded in 1993 and has been a staple in the Ottawa baseball scene ever since. The Brewers play their Home Games at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park, located in the heart of downtown Ottawa.

The Nepean Brewers are a part of the Canadian Elite Baseball League, which is comprised of eight teams from across Canada. The league is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. The regular season runs from early May until late August, with the playoffs taking place in September.

The Gloucester Giants

One of the most successful baseball teams in Canada during the 1970s and early 1980s were the Gloucester Giants. The team was originally known as the Ottawa A’s, and played in Ottawa’s Municipal Stadium. In 1977, the team’s name was changed to the Gloucester Giants, and in 1978, the team moved to Ottawa’s Raymond Chabot Granton Park. The Barrhaven Blue Jays are a youth baseball team in Ottawa, Canada. The team is part of the Ottawa District Baseball Association (ODBA) and plays in the city’s minor league system. The team was founded in 2008, and plays its home games at Richelieu Park.

The Rideau Valley Vipers are a collegiate summer baseball team based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. They are members of the Canada East division of the collegiate summer baseball Association (CSBA). The Vipers play their home games at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park, located in the city’s East End

The Vipers were founded in 2003 as an expansion team of the CSBA. They made their debut in the 2004 season, and finished with a record of 18-10. In their first season, the Vipers won the Canada East division title, and went on to win the CSBA championship. The team has won five CSBA championships (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009), and has made seven appearances in the final series.

The Vipers have had many players move on to Professional Baseball including Major League Baseball (MLB). MLB alumni include Steve Delabar, Russell Martin, Jesse Crain and John Axford.
