AL Playoff Picture

As the season comes to a close, the Playoff Picture in the AL is starting to take shape. The Yankees and Astros appear to be locks for the ALDS, while the Twins hold a slim lead for the final spot. The wild card race is still wide open, with four teams within two games of each other.

In the AL East, the Yankees have an eight-game lead over the second-place Rays. The Yankees are all but guaranteed to win the division, and they are currently focused on securing home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Astros have a comfortable six-game lead over the Indians in the AL Central. Houston is also in contention for home-field advantage, as they trail the Yankees by just two games.

The Twins hold a one-game lead over the Indians and a two-game lead over the White Sox in the AL Central. Minnesota is playing their best baseball of the season and they appear to be headed for their first division title since 2010. The White Sox are one of four teams vying for the final spot in the AL playoffs. They are currently two games behind the Twins and one game behind Cleveland.

The A’s are leading

NL Playoff Picture

The National League playoff picture is still very much up in the air with just a few weeks left in the regular season The Milwaukee Brewers currently hold the lead for the first Wild Card spot but they are closely followed by the Chicago Cubs New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks. The NL Central is also still up for grabs, with the Brewers leading the way, but the Cardinals and Cubs right behind them. In the NL West, the Los Angeles Dodgers have a comfortable lead, but it is still possible for the Colorado Rockies or Arizona Diamondbacks to catch them.
