The Shepherd women’s Basketball team has had a very successful season so far, with a record of 15-3. They have won their last five games in a row, and their next game is against conference rival West Virginia Wesleyan.

Off-season news

The Shepherd women’s basketball team has announced its schedule for the upcoming season The Rams will play their first game against West Virginia Wesleyan on November 8th. They will also play against Virginia Commonwealth on November 11th, and conference rivals Old Dominion and James Madison on December 2nd and 3rd respectively. The team’s complete schedule is as follows:

November 8th – West Virginia Wesleyan
November 11th – Virginia Commonwealth
December 2nd – Old Dominion
December 3rd – James Madison
December 30th – 31st – Ram Classic (Shepherd vs. TBD)
January 6th – 7th – Marshall Invitational (Shepherd vs. TBD)
January 13th – 14th – George Mason Invitational (Shepherd vs. TBD)
January 20th – 21st- North Carolina A&T Invitational (Shepherd vs. TBD)
February 3rd-4th- Norfolk State Invitational (Shepherd vs. TBD)

Recruiting

The Shepherd University women’s basketball team released its recruiting class for the 2019-2020 season The class includes five players from Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

“We are excited to announce our 2019 Recruiting Class ” said Head Coach Katie Layman. “Each of these young women will bring something special to our program and we can’t wait to get started with them in the fall.”

The class includes:
-Makayla Daniels (York, Pa./Central York), a 5-8 guard/forward who averaged 13 points and nine rebounds per game as a senior. She was named first team all-conference and second team all-county.
-Olivia Harding (Woodstock, Va./Central), a 5-11 guard/forward who averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and three steals per game as a senior. She was named first team all-conference and all-state.
-Aaliyah Hill (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech), a 5-9 guard who averaged 14 points per game as a senior. She was named first team all-conference and second team all-metro.
-.Iyanna Hicks (Baltimore, Md./Poly), a 5-8 guard who averaged 12 points per game as a senior. She was named first team all-conference and second team all
