As we enter the second half of the season, let’s take a look at the current Sunbelt basketball standings In the East division, Coastal Carolina is in first place with a record of 12-4. They are followed by second place Georgia State (11-5) and third place Appalachian State (10-6). In the West division, Louisiana is in first place with a 12-4 record, followed by Kansas State (11-5) and Texas State (10-6).

As of February 26th, the Kansas State Red Wolves are on top of the Sunbelt standings with a record of 21-8 (12-4 in conference play). The Georgia State Panthers are close behind at 20-9 (11-5 in conference play).
The Red Wolves have been led by senior guard Trayvon Palmer, who is averaging 19.5 points per game The Panthers have been led by sophomore guard D’Marcus Simmons, who is averaging 17.1 points per game

In recent years the Belt Conference has been one of the most competitive and evenly matched conferences in men’s college basketball Several schools have won the MBT, and many others have been regular contenders.

Sunbelt Basketball: Top Teams
As the Belt Conference season winds down, there are a few teams that have set themselves apart as the top contenders. In the East division, Florida Atlantic University and Florida International University are currently tied for first place with identical 13-3 records. The University of Texas Arlington is just a game back in third place at 12-4. In the West division, Louisiana State University Shreveport is in first place with a 14-2 record, followed by the University of Louisiana Monroe at 12-4 and the University of New Orleans at 11-5.
The top teams in each division will meet in the Sunbelt conference tournament which will be held March 10-14 at UNO’s Lakefront Arena. The winner of that tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament

It’s nearly impossible to predict who will be on top of the Sunbelt standings at the end of the season. However, there are a few players who always seem to be in the mix. Here are some of the Top Players to Watch This Season
Garrison Matthews, WKU: Matthews is a versatile guard who can score from anywhere on the court. He’s also a good rebounder and defender, making him a well-rounded player.
JD Notae, UNF: Notae is a dynamic scorer and an excellent three-point shooter. He’s also a solid defender, which makes him a key player for UNF.
Tavin Lovan, UTA: Lovan is a physical forward who isn’t afraid to get dirty in the paint. He’s a strong rebounder and shot blocker, and he knows how to put the ball in the basket.
