The 2021 SWAC Basketball season is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to see what the best players in the conference have in store for us. Here’s a look at the Top Players to watch out for this season.

As the college basketball season enters conference play let’s take a look at the best players in the SWAC.
1. Reggie Perry, Mississippi State The 6-foot-10, 250-pound big man is averaging 17.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game for the Bulldogs, who are off to a 13-2 start. Perry is a physical specimen who can score inside and out and is a force on the glass. He’s also a good shot blocker and is shooting 56 percent from the field.
2. James Wiseman Memphis: The 7-foot freshman is averaging 19 points, 10.7 rebounds and 3 blocks per game for the Tigers, who are 11-1. Wiseman is a smooth operator in the post with Good footwork and touch around the basket. He’s also an improving jump shooter and is starting to become more of a factor on defense.
3. Trendon Watford LSU: The 6-foot-9 freshman is averaging 16 points and 7 rebounds per game for the Tigers, who are 10-3. Watford is an athletic forward who can score inside and out. He’s a good rebounder and defender with a high motor. Watford is also starting to show some range on his jump shot hitting 36 percent of his three-pointers this season.
4. Precious Achiuwa, Memphis: The 6-foot-9 sophomore is averaging 15 points and 9 rebounds per game for the Tigers, who are 11=1 . Achiuwa is an active big man who does a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor. He’s a great rebounder and shot blocker with improving offensive skills. 1. Cameron Krutwig C, Loyola Chicago
A two-time First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, Krutwig is one of the best big men in the country. He averaged 15.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game as a junior, and he’s off to a great start as a senior, averaging 16.1 points and 9.8 rebounds through his first nine games.
2. Marcus Zegarowski, G, Creighton
Zegarowski is one of the best scorers in the country, averaging 19.2 points per game as a junior. He’s also a good distributor, averaging 5.5 assists per game last season. He’s off to another strong start this season, averaging 17.7 points and 5.4 assists through eight games.
3. Ty-Shon Alexander, G, Creighton
Alexander is another excellent scorer for Creighton, averaging 16.9 points per game last season while shooting 43 percent from three-point range He’s struggled with his outside shot early this season (31 percent from three), but he’s still averaging 15 points per game overall through eight games thanks to his ability to get to the basket and finish at the rim.
4. Davion Mitchell, G, Baylor
Mitchell was a key player for Baylor last season as they won the National Championship and he’s been even better as a junior, averaging 16 points and 6 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from three-point range (up from 39 percent last season). He’s one of the best two-way players in the country and is a big reason why Baylor is once again one of the top teams in the nation this year

1. Cameron Krutwig, C, Alcorn State
Krutwig is a big man with a lot of talent. He’s a great rebounder and shot blocker, and he has the potential to be a very good offensive player He’s still raw on offense, but he has the potential to be a real force in the conference.
2. Tyree Griffin, PG, Southern
Griffin is an extremely talented point guard who can do it all on the court. He’s a great scorer and distributor, and he has the ability to take over a game when needed. He’s still developing as a player, but he has all the tools to be one of the best players in the conference.
3. Donte Boyd, SG/SF, Prairie View A&M

Shaniqua Davis, Southern University: Davis has been one of the best point guards in the country this season, averaging 17 points, four rebounds and seven assists per game She’s a true floor leader and has been a big part of Southern’s success this season.
Jayla Scaife, Texas Southern University Scaife has been one of the top scorers in the conference this season, averaging 20 points per game. She’s also a great rebounder and defender, and she’s helped Texas Southern to a terrific season.

1. Jaylon Brown, G, Prairie View A&M
Brown is an electrifying player who can take over a game with his scoring or playmaking ability. He’s averaging 19.1 points and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 40 percent from three-point range. Brown is also one of the best defenders in the conference, averaging 1.8 steals per game.
2. Maurice Calloo, F, Alabama State
Calloo is a 6’7” forward who does a little bit of everything for the Hornets. He’s averaging 15 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks per game while shooting 53 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range. Calloo is also a talented playmaker, averaging 3 assists per game.
3. David Stephens, G, Jackson State
Stephens is one of the most explosive scorers in the conference, averaging 20 points per game on 45 percent shooting from three-point range. He’s also a willing passer, averaging 4 assists per game, and he’s one of the best perimeter defenders in the SWAC, averaging 2 steals per game.

In the 2021 season, the Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC) will be composed of ten teams Alabama State Alcorn State Arkansas–Pine Bluff Grambling State Jackson State Mississippi Valley State Prairie View A&M, Southern, Texas Southern and UAPB. These teams will compete in a round-robin tournament to determine the conference champion.
The SWAC is widely considered to be one of the best mid-major basketball conferences in the country. Many of the conference’s teams have been competitive in recent years and several players have gone on to successful professional careers. In this article, we will take a look at the best players in the conference and what makes them so successful.
Alabama State is led by junior guard Reginald Gee, who averaged 17 points per game last season. Gee is a very efficient scorer who can shoot from anywhere on the court. He is also an excellent defender and has the ability to take over a game on both ends of the court.
